Draught @ Carlsens Kvarter, Odense. This ain’t no local thing. This beer is world class. Pours black with a small creamy brown lasting head. Mocha, coffee bean, roast, liquorice, dried fruit and an ashy feel. Smooth and creamy palate. Dry roasted end. Dopeness.

Bottle, at KØ-10. It’s a clear, dark golden beer with a minimal sized head. Diacetyl, fruityness and some caramel on the nose. The flavor has a touch of diacetyl, with fruityness doing most of the work. Diacetyl and fruits in the finish, lacking on bitterness. Medium body, rather dry. A drinkable beer indeed, but with too much diacetyl, especially in the aroma and finish. I hold the Hornbeer edition as the winner in this fight. 100507

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. ABV is 9.2%. Hazy brownish amber colour, big to moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Strong sweetish aroma of candy, syrup, Belgian ale yeast and chili, hints of honey. The flavour has sweet notes of malts and Belgian ale yeast, hints of honey and syrup, minimal hops. Not much chili flavour while the beer is in your mouth, but there’s a distinct chili burn in the aftertaste. A bit weird, but well worth sampling.

Hazy ruby color, small beige head. Aroma has cardemom, caramel and yeast .. also some signs of overageness (papery). Medium-bodied. Caramel, spices, some yeast in the flavor. Lingering XMas spiceyness in the aftertaste. Decent.
