Description
Arthur Van den Bossche founded the brewery in 1897. After his death in 1925, Elenora Callebaut, Arthur's wife and daughter of the Callebaut brewers and chocolatiers family, continued the brewery. In 1935 Willy and Mark Van den Bossche, the 2nd generation, take the helm and further expand the brewery. Ignace son of Mark Van den Bossche, 3rd generation, becomes active in the brewery in 1976. In 2015 Bruno Van den Bossche takes over the brewery from his father. The 4th generation is now taking the lead.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 08/11/2014. Blackish, very dark mahogany brown, little beige head. Smell is sweet, cocoa and chocolate milk powder, herbs and roots, light roast, chicory coffee, light liquorish,β¦ Taste is bitter herbs, liquorish, leaves, sweet chicory coffee, cocoa and chocolate milk, light roots, hazelnuts, touch dark fruits, light caramel, light bark, sweet,β¦ Higher carbonation. Really surprised, way nicer and better than I expected. Way better than their stout. Excellent brew. A nice regular stout made be an ordinary Belgian brewery? Well I be damned.

Decent light Belgian beer. Really a lot better than most of the beers Iβve had at Saint Bock. Pours golden clear without much head or lacing. Has some light sweet malt. Finishes a little sweet. Well-balanced session Belgian ale. Finish is a little too perfumed though. Tap at Saint Bock.

33 cl. draft @ Kulminator. Pours black but not the blackest black with a creamy lightly tanned head. Nose is sweet liquorish, sweet syrup, dark sugar, light sticky roast, dark fruits, burned toast. Taste is liquorish, roast, syrup, touch sticky, Sirop de Liège, touch molasses, burned toast and finish is quite vinous. Syrupy body but not too heavy. Different, not bad but far from the best stout that I have had.

Bottle shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes, Martinus and Ansjelaah. Clear orange color, small white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, a bit too sweet for a tripel imo, a bit yeasty. Hmm average
