This is a good spice beer. Definitly has a cinnamon/nutmeg aroma. Pours with very little head. A brown color. Tastes similar to a pumkin beer. Overall, a good spice beer. If this is your thing, it is mine, it’s worth a shot.7/3/7/3/15

I am glad this years Winter Pack finally included this beer again. I couldn’t believe the large difference between the average and my rating. Sure I have a soft spot for Saranac but is it this soft? Pours dark copper, clear beer of course. Small head. Aroma is biscuit malt with spices. Taste is similarly strong on sweet biscuit with accenting spices (I really don’t know which ones). A very quaffable beer and actually missing that house mineral and corn thing that Saranac usually has. Actually, it seems the base beer might be an ESB under the spices. Obviously, still sterile filtered but it tastes good, not much I could do about that. Possibly after the glorious Caramel Porter, this may be the best beer Matt makes.
12oz bottled on 09/26/07, Delerium snifter/tulip glass.

this is a good beer if you are looking for a Belgian Lite. It has many of the flavors of a belgian but much weaker. For example, pours with almost no head. The color is like a cloudy amber. One could see through the beer, never a good sign for anything with the word belgian on it. I got it in a winter mix pack, which contains a few other good beers (caramel porter). So, its up to you if you want to get the box.

This beer tasted like it was dipped right out of the Great Mississippi river. The bottel was Great but the beer WAS NOT.

I like this beer. American brewers can’t usually equal the Beligians in the witbiers but this is a pretty good attempt. It lacks a good aroma but makes up with a fine taste, not overwhelming. Easy to drink but with taste.

A deceent brown ale. Orangey brown color, fair head. Slightly nutty caramel aroma with a touch of citric hops. Clean caramel malt flavor, easy finish, no bittering hops to speak of. Certainly boring, but with enough flavor to be acceptable. Slick mouthfeel.

This is not one of Saranac’s better efforts. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium brown color with only a trace of a tan head that fades very quickly. The aroma is sour nut. The flavor is also sour nut and light malts with a sour tangy finish. Fairly blah.

12oz bottle-pours a brown head. Color is brown/reddish. Aroma is caramel. Taste is very sweet caramel (too sweet) and malt. OK for an occasional, but not a session beer for sure.

12oz bottle-pours a white head. Color is amber/gold. Aroma is hops with some maltiness. Taste is hops, bitter-but not to the higher end of the style and refreshing.

12oz bottle-pours a light tan/offwhite head. Color is amber/brown. Aroma is malty, roasty then a bit of hops. Taste is malt, then some bitter shows up, but overall-smooth, a good beer and refreshing.
