Description
Conceived as a ‘nomadic’ project, The Beak has spent several years creating unfiltered, seasonally-inspired beer with friends at some the greatest UK breweries, including North Brew Co, Partizan, Beavertown, Burning Sky and Northern Monk. We've now laid roots in our hometown of Lewes in East Sussex, where we've built a 15-BBL neighbourhood brewery and taproom with a mixed-fermentation project and weekend street food canteen. Please come and say hi!

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from Ghost Whale and drunk at home. Light yellow/gold, very hazy with a ring of white head and some lacing. I'm getting a lot of cantaloupe, mango and pineapple in the strong, fresh aroma. Sweet taste, awash with fruity hops and coming to a light bitterness in the finish. Lots more tropical fruit in the aftertaste. Smooth, thick body with low carbonation. Wonderful from start to finish.

Can. Turner’s, Sheffield. Moderate haze on a deep gold. Sticky suds of white. Was expecting yellow haze, to be honest, but this’ll do. Nose has uber sticky pine and citrus. Some fruited bun. Brioche like grain. Taste is moderately bitter, with a ginger biscuit sweetness. Smooth on the palate, drinking easy at the ABV. Fine carbonation. Finishes off juicy and oily bitter. Nice one. It’s how I’d imagined the Deya beer I just had to be.

Can split at and thanks to James, 19/09/20. Hazed golden orange with an off white cap. Nose is orange pith, grass, grapefruit, pineapple. Tate comprises mixed tropical fruits, pine needle, bitter citric shreds, grapefruit zest, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close cloaked with balanced juicy hop bitterness. Solid.

Can. Turner’s, Sheffield. Floury haze on a yellow gold. Messy and sticky, bright white head. Nose has lemon meringue. Bitter grapefruit. Light on the oats. Some notes of ripe stone fruit. Taste is pleasingly bitter with a distinct grapefruit character. Some milky sweetness. Crisp carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Feels pretty full for the ABV. Nicely lingering bitterness to finish. Lovely beer that makes up for the disappointing west coast offering I had yesterday.

Can. Turners, Sheffield. Mostly clear, deep ginger colour. Looks quite alarming compared to the norm. Very messy, off white head with some legs. Nose has peppery hop. Rye. Super rich resinous notes. Touch of menthol. Taste is similarly rich, and sweet. Not a ton of bitterness here really. Smooth on the palate. Fine carbonation. Bitterness does come through on the finish. Might be a bit oxidised, this. Dunno for sure.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours cloudy gold with a frothy, white head. Light to medium sweet flavour with nice dank, tropical fruit character, mellow rindy bitterness, background pale bread, some pulpy orange, mango, papaya. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely rounded finish, more tropical kick, fleshy mango, further citrus notes, relaxed bitterness. Really good stuff. Punches above its 5% weight for sure.
