Description
A small independent brewery based in Glasgow's Southside, established 2019. We value quality, tradition, innovation, and doing things a bit differently.

Simple Things is about brewing beer with a sense of place, exploring beer styles that aren't always easy to find and using ingredients that extend the flavour spectrum beyond current trends. The beers are often modern takes on traditional styles, or contemporary styles with a twist.

We love to drink big, juicy hazy IPAs with Ctira, Mosaic, Simcoe etc but that’s not what we do. There are plenty of people already making a really good job of that.

Exploring beer styles and ingredients that are not so well represented is what gets us excited. Our Big Ideas Series is where it all began; a range of styles that includes crowd-pleasing favourites such as Golden Ale, Table Beer and Session Stout alongside the more esoteric likes of Wheat Wine, Scottish Light, Peated Pale and Bretted 80/-. We recently introduced our Core Range, comprising a US-style Pale Ale brewed with only European hops and a Czech-style Pilsner. Our new Seasonals range is where you’ll find beers that are right for the time of year.

We use local and foraged ingredients when we can. All our beers are vegan friendly, unfiltered, unpasteurised and naturally carbonated through re-fermentation. We hope you enjoy them.

Can from Against The Grain. Dark brown body with ruby highlights and a thin beige head that fades. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of toffee and liquorice. Flavour of soy sauce and salted caramel. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. A dark and sharp beer. It’s nice but not as sweet and deep as I hoped it would be.

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from RAD Beer and drunk at home. Mid-brown with a strong reddish hue, clear with a quickly dissipating beige head. Sumptuous aroma of cherries, white pepper, cola, dried grass, light funk. Sweet taste, lots of spice, some almost souring woody notes. Fairly thick body, tannic, low to medium carbonation. Great stuff, a bit odd but all the better for it.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - deep brown and opaque. Fluffy beige/yellow head.
Nose - candied lemon, vanilla, rhubarb, lime marmalade and burnt wood.
Taste - dried fruit, sweet spice and more burnt wood.
Palate - medium bodied at least, sweet but tangy and an edge of wood.
Overall - there's just so much going on here! Excellent!
