Light haze on this amber beer, small and short lived pale tan head. Smooth palate. The malts have a nice creamy sweetness and good caramel and toffee. There is lack of depth that comes from good maturation. But good all the same. The barrelling adds a nice light touch of oaky vanilla. The tequila provides a mellow but rich vegetal vibed like vibe. Some alcohol spice the end. Yeah, overall a pretty passable barleywine. Joins up well and is drinkable. A short maturity barleywine that uses its barrelling to maximum advantage and leaves a mild but pleasing toffee apple vibe

Bottle. Color: Black, light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, mocha, subtle peat. Taste: Very low carbonation, dark roasted malt, coffee / mocha notes, some vanilla, subtle smoke and peat. Moderate to over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness going towards medium at finish. Over medium to full body. Nice dry and bitter dark roasted and bit boozy finish.

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', best before September 2023. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, rather smoky-medicinal and a bit fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, peat, iodine and light dark fruits. Gently sweet, malty, very roasty, rather smoky-medicinal taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, lots of licorice, peat and whisky, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, earthy and quite smoky-medicinal finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Super heavy beer, very intense, a little sharp but also very tasty. Good!

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', best before June 2023. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, minimally fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some licorice and light whisky. Gently sweet, malty, fairly roasty taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, lots of licorice, burnt bread crust, some whisky and a touch of juniper, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter, earthy and gently boozy, almost peppery finish. Full body, very smooth and creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very good base beer, as usual, but I don't really like the flavours coming from infusion here. Not much aroma added but quite some sharpness from the alcohol. I prefer the BA variants.

Intensiv malziger Beginn ohne jegliche Karbonisierung. Cremig, holzig, die Malzigkeit ist fast überwältigend intensiv. Deutlicher Alkohol, Whisky, einen Ticken torfig. Zunehmend alkoholisch zum Ende. 10/8/7/8/9/8
