Slightly hazy straw-colored body, thin off-white head. Wheaty aroma (wet hay, a touch of citrus, and a touch soapy). Sharply carbonated, tangy palate, with light wheat citrus notes. Overall, fairly thin and nondescript. This beer scores "adequate."

Sampled at MrFacto’s ’Tosa tasting, courtesy 1FastSTi. Dark brownish body with red highlights, thin/medium cream head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and touches of brown sugar and caramel. Toasty body with chocolate and brown sugar, quite light, with hints of diacetyl. Thin-bodied. Eh...

Thanks to Indra for this! Pours clear and dark brown, looking much like a Brown Ale. 1" head of off white head that recedes quickly. Malt and citrus with some smoke in the background of the aroma. Sweet, without a great deal of bitterness, very light body. Pleasant, easy drinking beer which hides it’s alcohol well. Just not a lot of excitement with this one.

Malt and alcohol aroma. Standard strong ale appearance, dark with a red hue. Flavors of malt, alcohol, light spice, and sugar. Sweeter than many strong ales. Thin body.

Slightly hazy blonde golden coloured body with bright orange tints and very little of an off-white head-the beer looks still! Bright grapefruit hops in the aroma with malt and some sugars. Light-bodied; Mild malt flavour with wheat & a very small amount of hops showing through! Aftertaste clrean & fresh, but not great, as it is so bland! Overall, not recommended at all-pas this one up for a real summer beer! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 28-August-2004 at the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Paid $7.99 for a 6-pack. Brown in color, slight hints of red, small, but creamy looking head. Smell is nothing special, a bit on the stinky side. Nothing overly special here. Kinda plain taste... really, no defined flavor here. Maybe slightly coffee, but really plain. Doesn't remind me of a stereotypical Christmas Ale at all. Glad I tried it, but I won't buy it again.

Paid $1.09 for a 12-oz single. Very average looking. Amber, with just a dusting of head. Very average smell too... not much there at all. A slight bit of sourness, without any floral or fruit at all. Not the greatest taste. Tastes a bit like Bud would taste like if it was amber. In fact, I think this IS Budweiser with some food coloring in it. I'll never have this again... but it's drinkable. I'm not gonna dump it out.

(draught) Jet black; dark brown good head. Notes of coffee in the nose and oatmeal detectable, some burnt malts. Taste: impression of writing ink - weird. Quite bitter for an oatmeal, many roasted and burnt notes. Oatmeal seems to make it more bodied than it really is. I keep getting a thinnish texture in the end. Somehow the beer is OK in itself, but I think it is not quite up to style.

(draught) Very dark, deep chestnut; good brownish head. Very malty, dark malts, sweet chocolate in the nose. Again chocolate flavours, some roasted hints, sugared coffee. Well-bodied, sweetness is present in the mouthfeel - corn? Far from bad, but just not clean-tasting enough for the style IMO.

(draught) Pitch-black; greige dense head. Burnt/roasted barley, sulphury nose. Taste is meaty, yeasty and roasted barley. Soy sauce Japanese style, but less salty. Fleeting glimpse of buckwheat-flour. Full-bodied, on the verge of oily. OK Stout. Looks are more Guinness-like than the taste - well, OK.
