Pour is a jet black with a nice size tan head. Aroma is a roasted coffee smell. Flavor is a bit weak but you do get your chocolate and coffee but again a bit on the weakside for a porter. Still A decent brew and available pretty much at any 2-bit liquor store.

Pour is a bright golden with a white head. Aroma very malty and clean. Flavor is deffinatly a bit on the malty side with a nice flowery hop finish. Those looking for a lager that is not a macro or swill this could be for you. All lagers should be made like this.

12 oz bottle. I love pale ales and Samuel Smith’s is a good quality, reliable choice for me. The aroma is light, but nice.. Pours with a thin head that sticks around awhile. Light bodied, average carbonation, malty with a pleasant hoppy finish. Well balanced, this beer is a fine choice.

Bottle in Glasshouse Stores, Soho. Chestnut beer with lasting cream colour head. Some nice hops with tobaccco/tea flavours. Some boiled sweet flavour in the mouth. I quite like the hop/malt balanced finish

Pour was a dark copper with a white head. Aroma was a dark fruit, almost a port wine. Flavor is toffee malts with lots of plums and other dark fruits. Leaves a nice coating on the tounge as you swallow. Very nice and interisting brew.

Bottle at Anchor Tap. Very dark brown/black withthick creamy beige head. Lovelyaromas. Dark malts and lovely dark fruits. Good in mouth and the finish is gtrainy with coffee and powery chocolate. Excellent beer.

Keg at Anchor Tap, Southwark. Very dark ruby with dark beige creamy hea. Choc nd roasted malt flavours. good in mouth with some good cereals. Finish is drying with more roast malt. OK stout

Bottled, sampled at Picadilly Beverage Shop in Champaign, IL. Well, I found this to be skunky as soon as the cap was popped. That’s to be expected of clear bottles, innit? Still, poured a decent looking English beer, with lower carbonation. Goes down well, with comfortable roasts, light hops and a bit of a dry finish. Appropriate to slip this one in a tasting of Octoberfest beers, since this had a bit of that color. I just need to make sure of a bottle fresh from a closed case.
