14.9 oz can. I know I rated this on Ratebeer at least 15 years ago. Not sure why it didn’t transfer to Brewver. Aroma is floral, lightly bready. Pours nearly clear golden with a half finger cream-white head that reduces slowly. Taste has a bready malt sweetness backed by a slowly building herbal hop bitterness. Has that signature English Samuel Smith flavor profile. Perfectly carbonated velvety mouthfeel for a lager. One thing about it, I appreciate subtle lagers like this a hell of a lot more than I used to during the early Ratebeer days. It was due for a re-rate. More fair to this delicious beer.

Dark impenetrable ruby red black with a good 1cm head. Chocolate all the way on the nose. Vanilla, hint of cola, milky coffee, pocket espresso, hazelnuts. Nice in the mouth, chocolate mocha, sweet coffee. Very well balanced, not cloying, nice lingering coffee notes. Nice novelty.

12 ounce bottle from Yardville Super BuyRite. Deep amber colored pour. Creamy beige head. Tangy, earthy malt aroma hints at Golding hops. Flavor is tangy, sweet, toasted malt. Notes of toffee and Demerara sugar. Some spicy, citrus hops on backend.

All'olfatto si esprimono sentori di sottobosco. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata, permanendo in maniera sufficiente.

12 oz. bottle from mixed 6 at Trader Joe's. Deep brown-black pour with a big tan head of foam. On the low end of an imperial stout, so I'm smelling mostly some dark roast malt, not much alcohol. But not bad. Also a whiff of what I believe is the Yorkshire brewing water. Taste is pleasant, a lighter stout roast malt. Some roasty bitterness comes in, and there's some of the alcohol. Enjoyable.

Bottle from Aldi mixed six-pack. Black pour with brown highlights and a thick tan foam. Smell is mostly sweet chocolate. Taste is nice. Rich Hershey's Kiss note. Not much roasted malt, but it's not missed. Nicer of the Sam Smith imports.

$12.99 4-pk @ Publix
AROMA: Initially there is a mild sweetness with mild scents of caramel, biscuit, and malt. But then, at the end, a very small amount of musty sourness (e.g. old gym socks) wafts in. Mind you, it's not overwhelming, but I do find it a bit off-putting. I bought a 4-pack so when I have my next one, I'll see if the mustiness is still there, or if I maybe just got an "off" bottle.
APPEARANCE: Pours a clear medium-amber with a 1-finger, tight-froth, light-tan, head that dissipates very quickly with minimal lacing. It looks fine in my clear glass but the head really should last much longer.
TASTE: Mildly sweet with mild flavors of malt and caramel. The finish has a mild amount of bitterness, which I find to be appropriate. As the beer warms, the sweetness level increases a bit and the caramel flavor comes through a touch more.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a somewhat smooth texture. Carbonation seems average. The finish is medium dry.
OVERALL: Well, this is another beer that I probably won't purchase again. While it has a nice enough flavor, there is nothing that I find unique or interesting. On top of that, I found the aroma to be a little wonky. I'm not sure why I've had such a string of buying "ho-hum" beers lately. Either I'm just bad at picking new beers to try, or I've become jaded and am now a beer snob. At any rate, I did enjoy trying this beer, even if it didn't win me over.
