Description
Yorkshire’s Oldest Brewery. Samuel Smith brews a wide range of high quality beers, solely from authentic natural ingredients. The brewery still uses stone Yorkshire squares to ferment all its ales and stouts (except Sovereign and Extra Stout) and the same yeast strain has been used since the 1800s. Whole dried English hop varieties such as Fuggles and Goldings are used to add bitterness and aroma to Samuel Smith’s traditional ales in the antique boiling coppers. Samuel Smith’s uses oak casks for all its naturally conditioned ale. The casks are made and repaired at the Old Brewery by the brewery’s two full time coopers.

Bottle. Suprisingly good tasting. I was not much on English Beer but I’m starting to come around. Nice reddish gold color. Good aroma and nice taste. Recommend it. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Welcome Back Ale on 21 Jan 2025 at 05:39 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Amber is color with a two-finger head. Aroma is very malty with grains and bread. Taste is roasted grains, toast and a little more bitter than I expected.

Bottle. Really nice "Brown Ale". I’ve not drank alot of this style but this one was good. Great mild, malty flavor. Just a touch of hops. Overall, I highly recommend this one.

Bottle. Beer was ok. Taste was pleasant but not great. Samuel Smith’s other beers are much better. I woudl say it’s good for one beer but trying once is enough.
