Bottle shared with JMD and Johan at Våland 18.11.25. Golden amber. Fine aroma and taste of sweet pale malt, succade and mellow English hops.

Bottle from Aldi variety 6-pack. Pours a deep brown with a foamy tan head. Lightly roasty malt nose, but it wafts from the glass to my nose after I set it down. Roast malt taste starts out slow, then builds. Tempered by what I guess is the Limestone brewing water character. This is growing on me as I finish it.

Bottle. Pours clear dark amber, with a creamy mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts with bread, caramel, muscovado, dried fruits and heather, as well as leafy minerals, tannins and wine barrels. Full body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is roasted malts with syrupy bread, dried fruits and heather, as well as tannins and wooden barrels.

Keg at chandos. It pours clear deep ruby - brown with a thick, dense beige head. The aroma is actually sweeter than expected...toasty nut, chocolate, praline, toasty malts and fruit cake. The taste is smooth, roasted malts, toasty, earth, touch of umami, coffee grounds, cacao nibs, slight tannin, pipe tobacco, malt loaf and some spice. Finish is toasty and dry. Light+ body and moderate+, fluffy carbonation. Quite like this one. Bit of a disconnect between aroma and taste, bit enjoyable.

From a holiday mixed 6 at Trader Joe's. Pours a light brown under a puffy tan head. Nose has caramel-treacle malts, and a distinct English hop load: kind of earthy. Nicer taste than other Samuel Smith's I've found. Malts and hops carry through from the nose. Noticeable difference in taste from brewing water, a bit more minerally than is typical.

Poured from 550mL bottle (bb 31 Jul 28). Lightly hazed amber orange with small light beige head. Soft woody fig and toffee apple with feint honey, seems like there's some feint dry brett character in there, comes together really nicely.

Can, best before Oct 29, 2027, drunk Oct 18, 2025 at The Abbey, Brookline.
Clear, dark. Small, light tan head, low retention.
Smells of big cocoa character. Chocolatey, syrupy, milky, sugary, yet somehow, not off-putting. But very adjunct-dominated. Very minimal roast or beer character.
Same goes for the flavor, which is, to be fair, quite flavorful, with a medium body that has just the right amount of soft chewiness to it. Sweet and comforting. Somehow compelling in flavor and texture despite little/no complexity or much in the way of beer character.
