Description

Bottle, 5%. BB December 2006, 8 months ago. Ashtray aroma, hint of sweet apple. Clear yellow colour. Small fizzy white head. The flavour is a bit bready, might be because of its age, and a little rough bitterness. Rather boring beer, but not unpleasant. Lagerish, but grows on me and gets quite drinkable.

Brewery started brewing again in 2006, so this is not retired. Clear dark brown color, short creamy head. Aroma of oak wood, some ripe fruit like prunes, dark malt. Slight sweet taste, again with the fruit and the wood, some whisky notes, bit dusty and chalky though. Palate is more bitter. Flavors are not bad, but it is difficult to finish a bottle.

Clear dark brown color, no head or carbonation. The bottle did not even give a typical ’ssh’ either upon opening. Aroma is strong and typical smoked, bacon, salami, roasted malt, quite nice. Bit flat taste, without carbonation, of roasted malt, with a hint of smoke. I don’t think it’s supposed to be without any pressure on the bottle. I have another bottle, i’ll try it soon.

Draught Clear red-amber colour; yellowish, dense but small head. Pineapple smell, as a can of pineapple freshly opened; and yeasty. Very sweet taste, and again markedly pineapple - character. Warming up, the alcohol appears, making it even sweeter. Brandy and wood-notes, remaining sweet throughout. Enormously viscuous, slick, syrupy MF. "Full bodied" doesn’t do it right. Allright, it cannot help but being syrupy, but the flavours make it worthwile.

Draught Fully clear reddish-brown beer; yellowish-brown, good & dense head, stable. Grassy, green leaves and NO alcohol in the nose - fully hidden! Dark malts obvious. Fully German-bready taste, rather sweet. Typical Doppelbock-Eisbock taste (though the brewer calls it Austrian!). Ends more suave, dry and earthy-like. Full bodied, slick and nearly oily MF. Warming - there’s the alcohol at last, retronasal. This is good! They understood the style and made it for real. Absolutely my first-ever draught Eisbock!

Draught Clear amber-copper; good lace from little whitish head. Very perfumed nose, ginger and rosewater, apricot liqueur. Sweet, again very perfumed as a lowered alcohol, sweeter German Bock. Sticky sweet mouthfeel, leaving the tongue coated. 1/2 of the sugar, please - or let it lager a bit!
