Hey, it looks like I can log my 5000th beer rating on Christmas day - HOW FORTUITOUS - what do I have on hand that I haven’t rated? - some cheap German Doppelbock with middling ratings? - FUCK IT; WE’LL DO IT LIVE - this beer is alright - smells kind of metallic, with notes of raisin and caramel - flavor is better - creamy texture - flavors of dark bread, raisin, toffee - slightly tart finish - meh - at least I’m at 5000 now - achievement unlocked - merry effing Christmas.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Hazy cloudy dirty gold lasting thick white head. Banana ester aroma. Quite a tasty and rather good estery banana beer with some bitterness and some hop. Delicious really.

The Beer Store, Southampton 50cl: Pours dark amber with a slight off-white head. Aroma is dark fruit and a whole lot of sugar. Taste is rather sweet, and the finish is that of a dark sweet lager (oh surprise surprise). Some mild hop bit is present right before the finish and the astringency stays on your tongue for a bit. Aftertaste is similarly sugary. Not my favorite Doppelbock.

0,5 l bottle from kappldav123. Thanks a lot! As expected clear light golden in the glass, short living head. Grain and light citrus on the nose. Starts a little bit dry with citrus and, yes, hints of hop. Low malty and herb. Okay for this easy to drink kind of beer.

Getreidiger, hopfig herber Ausklang. 8/9/11/10/9/9

500 ml bottle into weizen glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy/cloudy reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big banana, plum, pear, apple, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big banana, plum, pear, apple, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light bready tartness and yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, pear, apple, banana, clove, caramel, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic dunkelweizen! All around awesome complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt sweetness; and extremely smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Süffiger, hell bitterer Antrunk. Leichte Getreidigkeit, steigender Hopfen. Mit der Zeit weniger bitter, dafür herber. Aromatisch hopfig zum Ende, süffig, frisch. Rundes gelungenes Bier. 11/11/12/12/8/12
