Bottle - Smells like apple pie. Pale gold. Light apple pie spice, cooked apple and vanilla notes. Very nice.

375mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden with a few bubbles head. Nose smells like a fresh sweet apple pie, with cinnamon, vanilla, and medium honey sweetness. Flavour brings out a lot more cinnamon upfront than on the nose, with secondary notes of vanilla and medium sweet apples. Just like an alcoholized, decadent apple pie. Complex and balanced. Excellent.

Corked bottle from The Beer Junction, Seattle
Measured Final Gravity: 1040

Dark brown/red color. Deep aroma of black currants, flowery, perfumy. Quite sweet, but the acidity and alcohol balance it; nice currants and berries flavor, with pleasant ending astringency. This one brings me back to some good German mead.
Excellent.

Bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a dark purple-ish red with no head. Nose brings out loads of dark berries, with medium honey sweetness and even a touch of pith from the berries. Flavour is lovely and very complex, with loads of blueberries above all along with the other berries, medium sweetness, and just a touch of honey. Complex, elegant, and perfectly balanced. Wonderful stuff.

Somehow I put this under a duplicate entry which since has been corrected. Original entry 31 March 2015.

375 ml bottle purchased from the meadery. Dirty gold color that is a shade of brown. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate candy and honey. The flavor is exactly as advertised. Milk chocolate bar up front with hints of vanilla through the center. Coffee hints linger in the honey in the finish. Very, light bourbon hint as well, jeez, how do they get this many different flavors in a honey mead??? Awesome after dinner mead that would pair nicely with some chocolate deserts.

Bottle from The Beer Junction, Seattle; synthetic cork
Measured Final Gravity: 1010

Dark red dull color. Mild aroma of berry wine. Smooth mouthfeel in the front, lightly alcoholic and astringent later. Some berry flavor, but no harmony, and most of all no mead character. I’m drinking expensive booze, I don’t think I’m getting value for the bucks.

Hazy dark blond color. To be frank, I had German supermarket meads at 3€ for 750ml that were as good as this one; too much honey and wax. Moderate sweetness, warming alcohol but no booze kick.
No pleasure.

Thanks AFH for sharing this with me. Light peach color orange. The nose is awesome. sweet (obviously) with vanilla dominating and a touch of cocoa. There’s a lot going on here. every aspect is well represented (coffee, cocoa and vanilla). sweet honey and orange with cumin and cloves. really tasty.

Older bottle from the basement, I believe from 2010. Reddish amber color with a smattering of bubbles on the top. Rich sweet honey and dark fruit notes on the nose with a hint of caramel, alcohol, and light sherry notes. The flavor is fruity honey with a hint of apple and again light sherry. I think its better fresh, I’m a big fan of this mead, but its interesting how the flavors have evolved over the last few years.

Deep golden color with moderate legs. Rich sweet honey aromas with a hint of carmelization deep fruit and alcohol. Faint coffee flavors awash in sweet honey. Not my favorite Moonlight mead.
