Dark brown, no head. The aroma is lightly toffeeish and some bubblegummy notes, tastes sweet with more sugars and gummy phenols. Ok but not my favourite type of beer. Probably not enough toasty brown ale notes for me

On tap at GABF. Pours with a hazed copper body and a lasting off-white head. Aromas of tart cherries, funk, pedio, cola, chocolate, earthy. Flavors are earthy, acetic, vinegar, cherries, caramel, light spice. Lively bubbles, dry.

On tap at GABF. Pours with a clear, strawberry-blond hued body with a white head. Aromas are tart, cherry, raspberry, grassy, grainy, funk and a hint of almond. Flavors are funky, vanilla, almond, brett, light acetic and raspberries. Lively bubbles, dry, tasty.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Suttree. 09 07 11 printed on the label, I sure hope that’s bottled on date! Pour is a lightly hazed golden with a one inch off white head. Head breaks up loosely and falls with some nice lacing. Aroma is fresh hop (whew) citrus, mild resins and a firm cracker maltiness. Fresh and vibrant hops, nicely balanced with the malt. Taste is the citrus and resin of the nose, along with the toasted cracker malt. Nice balance. Finish gets bitter with a sharp citrus peel, which detracted some for me. This dries the beer entirely out, and I preceived some alcohol in the aftertaste which surprised me for the abv level. Palate is medium to thin bodied, great unfiltered mouth feel, and the dry bitter finish. Overall, nice IPA - thanks Phil!

12oz bottle pours a rather effervescent deep rutty brown with decent yet big bubbly tan head. The aroma has a nice mix of nuttiness, roasted malts, a dash of chocolate malts, some earthiness and a faint pine and floral hop like sense too. The taste hits with a pleasing and semi bold load of pine hops, sweet nuttiness and roasted malts. As in the aroma I get a floral hop note and some chocolate too. Interesting mix that I find very agreeable.

A golden IPA wit a thick off white head. In aroma,a musky floral IPA with caramel malt. In mouth, a smooth pinhey hops with light citrus character, biscuitty malt, not bad. On tap at Knoxville Brewer’s Jam, Oct. 22 2011.

Amber and a little bit of haze. The aroma is big with floral and slightly grapefruity hops. Rich - maybe too much so - with massive bitterness and massive sweetness. Thick, syrupy, minty with rich caramels. Lightly orangey fruitiness. Not as drinkable as their regular DIPA, more like a Hog Heaven-style barley wine instead.

Golden-amber with slight haze and a thin head. The aroma is predominantly pumpkin with rich caramelly malts. Great balance between the nutmeg/cinnamon spice elements, the rich earthy caramels and brown sugars, and the vegetal, slightly sugary pumpkin. Finishes with a nice pumpkin/spice interplay. To be this flavour-packed and balanced, this beer is impressive. Really nice, drinkable pumpkin beer.

Brewed with local hops. Hazy straw with a nice head. The hop aroma is earthy, slightly lemony and an almost herbal rosemary, lemon verbena character. Another unique local hop beer. Biscuity malts with a light toastiness, earthy hop and a high cohumulone bitterness...especially for cascades. There must be a boatload of those things in here. Dry, lean character. Refreshing, enjoyable with a light hop spiciness late.

Slightly hazy amber-brown. Looks like it would have some head if it was in a better glass. Rich fruity-malty aroma is prototypical BW. Sweet, alcoholic start. The malts have lots of caramel/crystal character, but without much nuance and the hops have become dull and oxidized. (I’m not sure the year on this but it seems like last year’s, especially since this year’s is not out at the brewpub or tap room yet). It’s a burly strong beer as it should be but it doesn’t have much style. I’d like a fresher one, with better hop character and less oxidation.
