Description
Robert Scott is the proud owner / brewer of 9 Lives Brewing, a 5 barrel microbrewery based in Ystradgynlais, Powys, South Wales. Brewing began in June 2017 as a cask ale only enterprise and has steadily expanded into the bottled beer sector.

Robert is an award winning brewer, with more than 20 years commercial experience in craft beer making. Robert has won numerous awards including CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Wales twice. Robert’s beer also has an entry in the Roger Protz book – 300 More Beers to try Before You Die!

Robert is still passionate about brewing small batch craft ale and is continually looking to develop new recipes.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018 - Hackney, London. Day 3. Pours clear copper with a foamy mostly white head. Has a lot of ripe berries, background toffee, nips of leafy hops, British yeast, brown bread, leather. Meisum bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Lightly warming finish, more bready malts, a little toast, berries. Solid.

Gravicask, shared with Finn at the 24th Carmarthen Bees Festival. Clear amber body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Mid-sweet grein malts on the nose. Taste of juicy malts and bread. Bittersweet finish. Quite alright. (Carmarthen 04.10.2018).

[ As 9 Lives Gold ].Clear medium yellow colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweeet malt, light to moderate toffee, light butterscotch. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, pale malt, cookie, butterscotch. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171206] 5-3-5-3-9

Tried at the Nottingham Beer Festival 2017. Dark brown colour with an light tan head. Aroma dried fruit and caramel. Taste light fruity sweet. Medium body.

[ As 9 Lives Dark ]. Clear dark red brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, toffee, butterscotch. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, butterscotch, toffee, dark malt, sweet malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival, Cardiff 21/9/2017. Dark brown, with a thin, off-white, head. A sweetish beer, with some dark fruit, toasty malts and brown sugar, before a gentle finish. Ok.
