Very dark-brown beer with medium beige head. Lot of chocolate in the aroma also some roasted malts, overall impression is interesting and temptating. There are lot of chocolate in the flavour but roasted malts is found also and so flavour is nice balanced and not only chocolate. Carbonation is little too much and body is slightly thin. Interesting beer from Hartwall and it is great that there are found chocolate in the beer and not only for the name.

500ml Can- Very dark brown with red tinges and a small head. Strong chocolate aroma which reminds me of a mug of hot cocoa. It seems to be too artificial though but is pleasant nonetheless. Strong chocolate taste which dominates too much and must be artificial. A look at the ingredients listed on the can confirms this. Despite this, it is sweet but not sickly. Drinkable but nothing special and this style has the potential to be much better.

Can from FatPhil at ZBF 08. Hazy green gold, soapy spicy aroma, bit over carbonated. Some hop. Decent stab at a witbier. Soapy spicy, bit of cinnamon, pretty good, but mouthfeel let’s it down.

Can kindly shared by Fatphil at ZBF Sint Niklaas, Belgium, 02-03-08 Cheers FatPhil! Pours a lemon colour with a slight haze and a white head. Very much a wheat beer rather than a lager in my opinion, with soft lemonyness, dusty aroma, some spice but more floral than spice, I noted that there was little or no banana though. This is ok and I suppose a softer take on a Belgian Witbier

Aura is light yellow beer with thin white head. In the aroma there is grass and little sweetness. Flavour is slightly sweet and there are also some nice hops. There are some bitterness but too watery palate spoils the nice aromas of hops. There are some good things in the Aura but it is too watery and so it can’t success.

Karjala is a golgen beer with a thin and white head. Aroma is sweet and malty, metallic and not very pleasant. Taste is quite light, sweet malts, quickly disappering, low bitterness. Palate is light and watery. There are not positive things to mention, sweet malts.

Medium white shiny head. Copper body. Light clean apple and malt aroma, a bit faint. Dry slightly papery apple and malt taste with some sweetness. A touch watery while cold. Clean and fresh mouthfeel. Aftertaste is much the same, but a bit grassier. Overall a decent pale lager with little off taste. (0.5l can from Meny.)

Bottled (BB 06/2008)
Golden color, small white head. Brewing mash, corn and some grassy hops in the nose. Sweet malty flavor with some grassy hoppy notes. Light palate. Quickly fading flavors, some metallic notes in the aftertaste. Kind of mix of Olvi III (watery, sweet malty) and Aura (grassy hoppyness). Certainly doesn’t taste like Lapin Kulta.
