(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Dark reddish brown colour with firm beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark fruit (raisins, dried apricots), slightly vinous. Malty taste with dark fruit, cherries, prunes, raisins and hints of brown sugar (but drier than one might expect). Medium to full body, but smooth mouthfeel. A bit more balanced than the cask conditioned version, but probably not as bold. Warming and tasty.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet 07. Black colour with thin tan head. Aroma is a bit yeasty farty, flavour is a bit thin. Not a good stout, ugh.

Reddish brown color with light head leaving nice lacing on the glass. Generic sweet smell, but the taste is considerably less sweet. Rather bitter, but not as much as an ESB. A little like cardboard at the end. It’s Killian’s Red with a kick. Not liked by most of the people I asked at the bar where I found it, but I thought it was quite good.

Sept 2007)Brown coloured ale,with a sweet malt nose, strong sweet malt with a bitter finish, An ok but not the best example of a barley wine 2.6 Bottle (drunk May 2104, bbf 2009)... deep brown .. small tan head .. soft sweet roast ... big rich caramel suger malts (nice) rich dark berries ...plum .. raisins ... soft sweet toffee .. dark fruits ... dark roast .. mellow soft smooth ... actually really nice 4.0 ... probably the biggest move ive ever given a beer on a rerate

Brown coloured ale,with a sweet malt nose, strong sweet malt with a bitter finish, An ok but not the best example of a barley wine 04-09-07 2.8...ok 16-06-10 ...on cask now ive seen a lot more strong beers ... copper ... creamy white head ... slight sour rich toffee malt nose ... great mouthfeel ... silky ... light toffee vanilla sweetness ... i keep expecting souness to show in flavour but itsnot there ... nice ... alcohol isnt that presnt ... little apple in linger... 3.5... interesting that palate was a 4 both times

Well its a stout, but a little too burnt in linger, deep black, , nice deep fruit malt nose, but palate ruined in end.

Bottle. Fruity, light aroma. Perhaps a bit of malt in there. Clear amber color with a firm beige head. Starts fruity, brings up light malt, quickly followed by balancing hop. Almost medium mouthfeel. The finish is nicely dry and bitter. Very nice indeed.

Mild dark fruit aroma, some light chocolate, and arguably malt! Nearly opaque brown/black color, but halogen backlight shows ruby tones. Tan head that mostly went away, but what remained laced a bit. The dark fruit flavor is more cherry than plummy, the mouthfeel is full and a bit chewy. Arguably both roasted malt and coffee tagging along with the chocolate for the finish. The malt/hop finish is a bit more like a stout than anything else, except, wait, Old Peculier. But different in a good way.
