Dark brown colour with a thin off-white head. Very strong smokey smell with hints of tobacco and spices. Medium to Light-bodied; Strong smokey flavour with a bit of maltiness. Aftertaste is fairly bland, a bit of the tobacco and spice characteristics are noticeable. Overall: alright, but not great. I bought this 33 cL bottle at Green's Beverages in Atlanta, Georgia and sampled it on 27-September-2003.

Clear dark red color, medium head. Aroma is burned malts, bacon. Sweet roasted malty taste, smoke note indeed. Dry and bitter palate.

Black color, large brown head. Aroma is bready, rye, salami. Bit watery bready taste. Bitter metallic chewy palate. I like to drink a beer, not eat one.

The aroma is sweet and malty. The flavor is also sweet and malty, but with a smoke note too it. A great Scottish ale - but beware of the 8.5% ABV.

A red beer with a beutiful head. The nose is primarily malty sweet. The flavor is also malty sweet from a good malty blend.

The aroma is light but perfumated sweet and malty. The color is golden and it has a fine though disappearing head. The flavor is sweet, malty, and rather bitter. This beer is a bit light in the palate - but really good for a 3.8% ABV.

Pours a dark red/brown color with a thin white head. Aroma is malty and earthy. Flavor is, likewise, malt-dominated, with emphasis on woody and earthy notes, as well as a bit of dried fruit, and definite alcohol presence. Another good example of a Scottish ale, though the alcohol presence might be toned down a bit.

Dark red beer with a caramel and lightly liquorice aroma. The caramel and heavily hopped flavour makes for a thick drink on the palate. Overall a reasonable beer.

Looks like flat cola. Smells like peat smoked malt. Tastes like skull spliter with less roastiness and fruity undertones. Slighty bitter. Not very complex at all. Thin bodied, watery even. Earthy in an "it tastes like I'm drinking liquified potting soil" sort of way.
