As the No.1 Brewer in Wales, S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd are fiercely proud of their Welsh heritage and the fact that they remain family owned. Founded in 1882 by Samuel Arthur Brain and his uncle Joseph Benjamin, S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd have been brewing beer in Wales’ capital for more than 135 years.

In 2012 they opened the Brains Craft Brewery which allowed them to brew in smaller batches and be more experimental with their flavours. To date they have produced over 100 craft beers, and the Craft Brewery has become an integral part of the Brains beer range.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear gold beer, no real head. Palate is light and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Sweet and dry pale malts. Tangy orange and citrus. Light semi dry finish. Not bad.

GBBF Day 2. Cask. Clear deep red - amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Chocolate cocoa artificial taste. Tangy dark fruits Mild sweet esters. Light finish. Passable.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, light toasted malty. Bitter, toasted malty and slight sweet caramelish. Bitter and toasted malty finish.

From cask. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla. Roasted dark malty. Mild bitter, roasted malty. Slight sweet. Roasted dry and dark malty finish.

[ As Brains Craft Brewery Gin Lane ].Clear medium orange - yellow color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, hay, spicy, light ginger. Flavor is light moderate sweet with a average duration, pale malt, spicy note, gingery finish. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. [20140813]

Pours mahogany into a shaker. White head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Toffee, vanilla and pit fruit aromas. Soft with sweet oak and vanilla upfront turning dry and more oak in the lasting finish.

330ml bottle from Tesco, somewhere in deepest Pembrokeshire. Pours clear amber. Creamy off-white head. Floral / malt aroma. Taste is floral with honey and distinct parma violets. Alright-ish.
