Share courtesy of our tasting host, douglas88. It poured up with a clear deep copper body supporting an off white head of foam. The aroma offers up smooth nutty coffee roastiness. If I close my eyes and smell it seems just like a cup of coffee. The taste has a medium roast coffee note mixing with faint chili pepper that delivers zero heat. Pretty nice cup o joe.

Can courtesy of Kermis. Poured a deep mahogany with a broken white tan head. The aroma is grassy hop, leading to a smooth, weak liqourice bitter smoky flavour. A superb and rather unusual beer.

Can shared. Pours almost black with tan head. Aroma of big roasted malt, grassy hops, light citrus, resin and light chocolate. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Thanks(?) to Matt for muling this from Minnesota. Pours clear amber with a small tan head and good lacing. Allright so far! Aroma is spicy, honey, floral, cinnamon. Weird. And it gets weirder, and less pleasant as the beer sits. Flavor is very floral - lavender I guess, and spicy. Lightly sweet, no real bitterness. Light body. Points for being different but we split this 750 three ways and still poured more than half of it down the drain.

I have had this several times. Most recently from a bottle purchased on the brewery’s opening day. Well roasted malt giving mild coffee and chocolate flavor, as well as moderate hops. Solid palate, and biter finish. I am not a huge fan of this style, but Midnight Ryder pulls it off better than most.

Pours a peach-copper color with large head. Aroma is strongly floral, even flowery, with a hint of a wheat aroma. Flavor is dominated by the lavender, which is kind of a strange taste for a beer. There are other fruity and nutty notes present, though it almost tastes a bit like soap or shampoo. Really kind of gross when it comes down to it. Glad to give it a try once, but I doubt I’ll be coming back to this. I gave my second bottle away to a less-than-grateful cousin.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep brown color with some reddish hints with a medium light beige head. A big nose of coffee and peppers. The flavor is vanilla, earthy, dusty/dry, huge roasted coffee, light pepper and more vanilla. Good.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow, with little to no head. Aroma of grass and some citrus. Flavor is a very light combination of fruit esters and grassiness. Not particularly memorable.
