Tap at Vine Street - mmmm, this stuff is nice - jet black pour - dark tan had - nose of dark roast, fresh brewed coffee - rich flavor - a lot of coffee, but very little of the bitterness associated with it - some notes of chocolate and anise as well - creamy mouthfeel - very nicely balanced - roasty, semi-bitter finish, but with lingering creamy sweetness behind it - tasty!

Nitro at Vine Street - super hazy with a sticky lace that leaves rings around the glass as you drink - this brewer makes some solid ipas - very resiny, with a potent, drying bitterness that is counter-balanced by just enough sweetness and malt heft to keep it from being simply light and bitter - a lot of grapefruit pith, perhaps a tad too much, but otherwise solid.

Pint at Vine Street - well, she looks pretty - glowing hazy orange, with a soapy, lasting lace - this is a lot better than the ratings suggest, and it also comes across as being much stronger than 5.5% - your standard citrus/pine, assertive hop character is tempered by a health, but balancing dose of sweetness - a touch of toasted grain character adds an interesting dimension - a solid IPA.

Tap at the brewpub - I quite liked this one - unlike most braggots, the mead adds a nice honey flavor, without adding too much sweetness - the floral, herbal, wheaty character of the beer remains quite distinct, and compliments the honey character quite well - alcohol is warming, but not overpowering - actually quite refreshing for its strength - a bit of apricot and lingering herbs - very good.

Shaker pint draft at the Southern Sun brewpub in Boulder, Colorado. Pour is bright ruby, copper, golden with a one inch white head. Decent lacing. Aroma of toasted caramel, earthiness, British hops, and a little mineral element. The taste is the nose, but with the introduction of light diacetyl. Certainly not the cleanest beer I have had. Overall, this was just OK, and I generally really like this style.

Tap @ brewpub. Slight hazy orange color, short head. In your face come the hops, pine and grapefruit. Very bitter taste, but still starting sofe, almost creamy, and then finishing bitter, almost astringent. Great stuff.

Tap @ brewpub. Dark color, short brown head. Good aroma of coffee and malt. Malty body, some coffee, some chocolat. Quite bitter. Good stuff, but go for the java porter if you love good coffee.
