Huge, just yellow-tinted head; clear golden colour. Very grassy aroma, German "herb", dry malty & very faintly buttermilk. Sweeter-maltier taste than expected with a very marked mineral water quality & flavour. Dry enough but no hoppiness. Mineral water, light body, good carbonation without becoming fizzy. Aftertaste non existant after fading finish. In its class decent enough.

33 cl bottle. For so many, this will be our only beer from a Moslem country; although Turkey has in fact a very secular government. Passed up the chance to try it in Russia two years ago, and now it’s here in the States. Bit of a skunk when I first open it. Pours a pretty decent gold lager color, fizzy with a disappearing head. I actally taste some bitterness first off, not a lot, but enough to be surprising. I do get some adjunct to it, but it has lots of prickly effervescence to keep it from being too sweet. Bits of spice here and there give this more complexity than most world-wide exports. It stands out somewhat in a style dominated by blandness. Of course if it’s being exported from just one source, you need to play the odds to snare an unspoilt pack.

Small white head; dark red body with ongoing carbonation. Faint paper aroma. Dry, roasty taste with licorice notes. Very faint taste. Dry aftertaste. Could be worse, but is definitely boring. (0.33l bottle.)

Bottle. A cigarette ash aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Sour barley malt flavor with no hops flavor and moderate carbonation. Vile aroma but a non-offensive but bland flavor.

500ml can. Clear pale golden in colour, Frothy head, mostly disappearing. Weak malt aroma. Flavour is a mix of sugar water, grain and malt. Well hidden alcohol. Fizzy impression.

(Bottle 75 cl) Very pale - almost clear - pilsener golden with a small, creamy, white head. Odd aroma of coffee. Thin and watery body completely dominated by cardboard flavour which by now seems to be the typical Efes flavour. No hops but loads of CO2. 130806
