About
In 1996 Pabst, once one of the largest breweries in the United States closed down its production in Milwaukee after 152 years. Since then Pabst’s legacy brands like Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR), Old Milwaukee, Lone Star, Rainier, Stroh’s, Old Style and Schlitz are brewed under contract by third parties. For nearly two decades, MillerCoors brews and distributes all of Pabst's beers under an agreement. In 2019, it has entered with City Brewing Company into a 20-year contract production agreement until 2040. Pabst will gradually transfer from 2021 until 2024 its production from MillerCoors to City Brewing.

Clean, light aroma of malt. Light brassy color with a white head that didn’t survive. Starts a bit malty, not too thin, medium carbonation, probably enough hop to balance the light malt. Better than Bud.

This beer comes in the best can ever! The taste is not too offensive at all. In fact, it is rather drinkable. It doesn’t have much taste, but there is nothing patently offensive. Everything that is there is like ok stuff totally.

Schmidt premium 16 oz pop top can. Has a beautiful pheasant on the front, and the can is very proud looking with its red background. How ironic I just tasted some imported ‘golden pheasant’ before this and this down home Schmidt brew is better! Yes, I’ve tasted this before I became a ratebeerian but I wanted to get some ‘good beer’ experience under my belt before I BMC slam this from memory for a ticker. I am actually drinking this as I rate it. Pour is a little brighter lemon than typical pale yellow american brew and the head is a tad bright yellowish. It is almost like this has been colored with yellow food coloring. Has really nice lacing in my steeler stein. Cannot detect much if any aroma. The flavor begins with a creamy carbonation…nice. The taste is friendly and gentlemanlike. Finish is OK and there seems to be no hint of bitterness. I am surprised to write that this beer is well behaved, repeatable, friendly and easy to like. Got be one of the best buys of the cheap beers.

My Rose Bowl beer, dedicated to Michigan’s former quarterback, the one and only John Navarre. Has the appearance of the water in a washtub following the removal of a soiled Wolverines uniform. Dirty brown, veiled with the worn hue of another hard-earned bowl defeat. Despite the ferocity of the helm...er, label, this Division I beer starts with a delicate, conservative three yards and a bushel of corn approach fitting for its style’s tradition. Nutrient-leached greens, left on a lineman’s plate to the chagrin of his loving mother, swim among the husks. Do I punt on 3rd down? No, I play each down knowing I’ll eventually break through sobriety’s line. And, it’s this predictability that keeps me sipping as the game foments (or ferments).

12 oz silver can that says it’s a special light beer with a full bodied taste. I really liked PBR so this will be interesting. This is not a padder, I’ve drank his many times before, but I wanted to get a few good rated beers under my belt before I actually rated this. I drink it as I rate, not from memory. Has a yeasty aroma like that of a good witbier. Pours typical yellow like any other pale yellow american beer. Has a white head that rapidly fades. There are some bubbles that are constantly rising inside the mug. Has a little less than gentleman like flavor that seems a bit watered down compared to original PBR, but it is not as watered down as yuengling light or hienekin light. Has good average carbonation. The flavor is somewhat like PBR and is refined. Finish has no bitter astringentness what so ever. Enjoyable and repeatable, a good session beer.

I’ve known Pabst since before it was a Miller. If you haven’t rated Pabst, you must not be american, for pabst is probably more american than bud. Blue ribbon, do those 12 oz bottles still have a blue ribbon on the neck? Before I was old enough to drink beer, pabst was there. This is a 40 ounce twist of cap, almost a double bomb. It has your typical yeasty good beer aroma, that of a decent wheat beer. Pours very light yellow into a poor steeler stein. There are much bubbles arising from the side and bottom of the container. Good carbonation, even though this is the bottom of the bomb. A very good repeating beer, as I recall. But I am not rating this from faulty memory; I drink it as I write! So this is neither a padder nor a memory rate. Yes, I have drank this many times before. I wanted to get a few good beers under my belt before I attempted to rate an old familiar! Initial flavor is clean and crisp, even after so many years. It is non-offending and gentlemanlike, like a beer should be. The finish is not bitter in any way, what I expect out of a beer. Very good. Perhaps there is a growing aftertaste once the last drop is gone. It may be the aftertaste of knowing there is none left to consume. Says it was established in 1894, but that is not how long I’ve been drinken it!

This malt liquor is about as clear as silver thunder. It smells like an ashtray that was dipped in gasoline then set outside for a little bit. The taste is not real improvement over the smell. It simply tastes of alcohol and cheap crappiness and crappy cheapness. Ultimately, it is not the worst beer out there... I guess it is drinkable if you care to look through every cheap-o beerstore... whoo 200 ratings.

This beer is almost completely clear. It looks like someone just threw a little bit of yellow dye into a seltzer water and then sold it as beer. The beer smells like a really cheap beer (no surprise, as I had it out of a 40)... it has a little bitterness to it that is also indicative of cheapness.... then it has this bad flavour that just reminds me of a really cheap beer. Another great selection from Miller... well I do like Miller in its own way...

Draught. Aroma of maize and grass. Weak watery body. Flat finish. Cheap. Just another maize adjunct, hop extract macrolager.

Can. Wow. This is way better than I expected... still a corn beer, but not unabashedly so.
