Description
Natural ingredients, local manufacture, short circuit ...
The Les 2 Ours brewery does justice to its habitat, the Périgord-Limousin regional natural park.
In reference to their wild and unspoiled terroir, the brewers have imagined this ferocious and poorly haired range to satisfy all your solitary pleasures...
So, to your paws!

Basically, as the name suggests, there were two badly licked bears in the brewing adventure. Today, there is only one left. Always as gruff but gentle as a lamb, Gauthier Bourgy brews his craft beers with a masterful hand. Basically, he's a computer scientist in the north. Today, after intensive training at the Institut Français de la Brasserie et de la Malterie in Nancy, he is found in the Périgord. It is located in a strategic location in terms of traffic and above all, the water is perfect for brewing its craft beers. Established since 2017, the Brasserie Les 2 Ours has been more than well received. Encouraged by this enthusiasm, Gauthier Bourgy, makes the device: short circuits and direct sales. He chose a local malt house that malts organic barley grown on neighboring land. In its tracks, the brewer began a conversion to organic farming.

330ml bottle, bought in Dordogne. Brewed "the traditions of an Abbey" whatever that means. Pours gold with a light mist, relatively small white head. Gentle strawberry presence on the nose. Overly carbed, bit fizzy, some soft strawberry, thin bodied overall. Generally ok but no more.

330ml bottle. Pours unclear dark / black, large tan head. Pear, chocolate, aniseed and Tonka.. there's a combination you don't see every day. All elements present, though it's a shouting match between the tonka and aniseed with the pear keeping a wise distance. Interesting mish mash, entertaining enough

Bottle from Monoprix, Perigueux, enjoyed in the French summer sun. Boozy golden effort with a head. Its attractive label promised so much more. Perhaps a slightly better taste than aroma it's a drinkable triple, and if you like strength it certainly has it with a balance, however the other part of this balance doesn't have the most appealing of floralness in terms of flavour.

# 3827; 9/2023. Bitter, zesty, peppery aroma. Hazy gold body; white head. Watery, wine grape, fruity, flowery. Very untraditional and untypical beer (at least for me). 0,33 l, bottle, supermarket (Lidl), Nancy (Lorraine, France).

Tripel in full Belgian style by a deeply (southwestern) French brewery, referring to an old monastery and apparently made in collaboration with its monks – so in Belgium, this would be considered an official abbey beer. Thanks Craftmember for sharing. Snow white, medium thick, somewhat irregularly edged but stable head, misty peach blonde robe with visible sparkling and some protein dots floating around near the bottom. Aroma of ripe peach and even a hint of apricot jam, some banana but not overwhelming, dried flowers, cold chamomile tea, brioche bread, clove, hint of cinnamon. Sweetish onset, ripe pear, peach and light banana fruitiness, finely tingling carb with underlying, slightly souring minerality; soft, full body, a brioche-bready maltiness with a honeyish layer of residual sugariness on top, yet somehow balanced by this underlying minerality. Lingering sweet ‘yellow’ fruitiness along with mild phenolic spiciness, matching with a floral hoppiness providing gentle, ‘careful’ bitterness, lingering just a little bit. Some vague calvados-like alcohol is noticeable but remains very subtle – quite obviously, at 7.5% ABV (the lower limit of what can still pass as a tripel, for all I know). Contrary to my expectations, this is actually a very well made Belgian style tripel, with a lovely minerality underneath, enough variation in flavours to remain interesting and an authentic, genuine and balanced character. More than decent.

Bottle from Lidl Antibes @ L’eden, Biot. Pours hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, sweet ripe fruit. Flavor is sweet, malt, yeast, sweet fruity, ripe apple, some alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, sweet finish. 190723

Cloudy amber, giant beige head, latent gushing. Subdued fruity jammy caramel aroma. Mild juicy sweetness while not getting sugary - fruity caramel, notes of biscuits and toasted bread, high massaging carbonation, really low bitterness - though, again, does not feel cloying. Simple, decent.

Cloudy deep ruby-brown, beige head with some lacing. The aroma is fruity and roasty - plums, mild roast barley, toasted bread crust, light sweet chocolate. The tate is robust yet not aggressive roast, moderate milk stout like sweetness with a dark fruit note, quite a bit of hops and a pungent crisp citrus and spicy bitterness. No Belgianish phenols - mostly in the modern stout realm. Solid.

Cloudy golden, giant white head. Smells of pale fruit and spicy green herbs. Similar taste - mild fruity, sweet bready malts and Belgianish peppery spice. young and lively, massively though softly carbonated. Soft bready finish with almost no bitterness yet feeling balanced. Very nice.
