25cl bottle at Man in the Moon. Copper with a big and lomng lasting off-white head. Perfumed floral aroma with oak, vineous alcohol and a hint of almonds. Surprisingly dry for the ABV, slightly smokey malt and whisky flavour. The whisky is extremely fine tuned to the malt flavour except for a little warming alcohol, you don’t notice the ABV at all. Well done!

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy dark brown, small head. Earthy nose with the slightest hint of frozen stawberries. Dryish, dense and full sized. Salty with licorice and tobacco, packed with earthy malt. Long salty bitterness. Powerful in all aspects, perfectly suitable for a -16C winter night.

Bottle at Nya Tröls, Malmö
Dark amber color, mahogany; small head with big bubbles, like a cask ale. The mild spicy aroma (cinnamon?) reminds me a chicken curry, this is not positive; light roasted nuts too. Good body strength, some residual sweetness; caramel flavor and some chocolate; there is again a light cinnamon presence, and very light coffee. It’s surely good compared to the anonymus Julöl that appear in Sweden this time of the year, but not special.

2011-01-18, bottle, 1 or 2 years old, 7-4-8-3-16=38
Black color, with medium sized creamy head, and apparently high carbonation. The coffee aroma is truly convincing. Dry mouthfeel, smooth too; delicate, harmonious coffee flavor, chocolatey; the aging added a light yeasty (cheesy, ammonia) touch, creating a delicious result.

2009-10-20, draught at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö, 7-4-6-2-13=32
Dark mahogany color. Nice aroma of roasted malt and chocolate, with cereals and nuts, a bit dusty too. Medium body structure, actually thinner in the end; dark caramel flavor with sme chocolate, possibly too dry in the end; there is a very light final liquorice touch; correct bitterness. Elegant but nothing special.
