Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. It pours cloudy amber-brown with a small beige head. The nose is brown bread, toast, earth, spice, caramel and dried fruit. The taste is caramel, raisin, brown bread, earthy, spice and a touch of coffee. Medium body and moderate carbonation. So-so.

Bottled, 0.75l. Murky dark brown color with medium light brown head and fair lacing. Aroma of yeast, dried fruits and mild alcohol. Taste starts with sweet caramel malt, then followed sour yeasty, grainy and fruity, finish is moderate bitter, while aftertaste is average long. Medium to full body, creamy texture and average natural carbonation in palate. Typical Italian-Belgian combination, not perfect, but good enough...

@Porec, Kroatie gekocht bij Kaufland caramelbruin, helder met minimaal witte kraag aroma: lichte caramel, gebrand mout, fruitig smaken: medium bruine suiker zoet, donkere fruiten, geroosterde- cara- en gebrande mouten, toffee, linzen medium body, dun, laag co2, afdronk: zoetig: weinig inspirerend bier, aroma doet volle smaken verwachten, helaas allemaal wat zwak/flets, daarnaast echter best wel drinkbaar. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cotta 74 on 25 May 2018 at 11:31 - Score: 6

27/07 A 0.75 fliptop bottle, as Cotta 42. It poured hazy brown body with medium sized head. Very fine lightly sweet caramel, chocolate and some dark fruits. Flavor was also a bit on the sweet side, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee and dogfood (which might be these lentils) . Medium bodied, even fuller with quite fine, long dark malt, pleasantly toasted (with some roasted characters) finish. Really good, but 7 euros for a bottle retail, well...

27/07 A 0.75 fliptop bottle, as Cotta 28. It poured hazy honey-amber body with medium sized white head. Honey and propolis in aroma, sweet, but fine. Touched with yeast. Flavor was interestingly bitter, herbal and alcoholic, some weaker sweet toffee and caramel malts, medium in body, rough and tingling on palate. Slightly sweet finish though, caramel and citrus are dominating here. A fine beer, feels more than 5.5% like all of these obviously.

26/07 0.75 l fliptop bottle, as Cotta 19. It poured hazy golden body with a big head that soon goes flat. Fine citrus and sweet fruity malt aroma. Nose included Belgian style yeast and some vanilla that usually goes with it. Slightly sweet, pleasant flavor, peach, vanilla, toast, yeast chalk and yoghurt notes, then candies with crown of herbal and citrus bitterness. Medium body, as much as it could be for only 5%, even slightly alcoholic towards the end which makes me curious did it ferment to a bit more. Moderately sweet finish. A fine Italian micro, overpriced as most of them, but at least didn’t fail.

Another one thanks to heavy and his parents! MBU Cotta 42. Poured a murky brown cola body with a small off white head. Malty, slightly roasty coffee/carael sweetish aroma. Ok soft slightyl roasty, slightly creamy nice maly taste, vague fruitiness and yeah, vague lentils, which I might not have noted if I hadn’t read teh label but hey! They were there! Mild carbonation bite. Yeah, tasty.

As MBU Cotta 28... these are apparently special versions. In any case they are both brewed with grass peas. Which are used as cattle feed and are poisonous if you consume a lot of them over a longer period of time. Great. Still, that’s definitely a first. I think. This poured a murky amber body with a lasting slightly off white head. The aroma was simple but nice, honey, some chalkiness, yeastiness, sweet overall. Simple sweet taste, honey, light bitterness, veeery light herbal noes. Just a weak touch of plastic which might be from the yeastiness. As I noted, tasty, simple, likely overpriced.
