Cask handpull at Pembury Tavern, London. Very very deep ruby colour with thin lasting tan head. Quite a fruity aroma, turkish delight and rich cherry. Odd mild. No real bitterness on finish. Odd. Fruity, but very mild.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A deep red - almost brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and malt, and so is the flavor, leading to a slightly bitter finish.

Cask at the Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon 12-01-08 Mid golden, with the merest of a haze, an aromatic beer, florally hops, honey in the mouth, but there is a nice citrusy underbelly to this beer. A really very good drop indeed.

Cask at GBBF2007: Black with a brown hue, lasting off-white head. Grassy unpleasant aroma. Dry and pungent flavour. I wonder if it was off or my expectations were wrong.

Bottle. Pours a jet black body with a minimal beige head on top. Burnt, coffeeish aroma with some licorice and a faint hoppy note. Burnt, coffeeish flavor too, with a hoppy bitterness slighlty more pronounced than in the aroma, as well as a coffee-ish bitterness. Medium body and a burnt, coffee-like finish. I would like it a bit more fruity, even though it’s not as coffee-ish as it might seem from my notes. For a 4.5% beer though, it’s very nice. (071027)
