Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Light gold, clear with a thin off-white film of head with lots of lacing. Notes of soft citrus peel and fresh grass in the aroma. Tastes better than it smells with a gentle bitterness from start ensuring balanced finish. Pink grapefruit and lemon zest in the aftertaste. A decent recipe.

Bottle from Wine Rack. Pours a clear golden colour with a medium sized throthy white head. Aromas of citrus and floral. Taste is a lots more citrusy with grapefruit and a lemon pithy bitterness on the grassy finish. Medium body with a smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Fresh and hoppy summer beer.

Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Have drunk this many a time over several years, but somehow not got around to rating it before. Pours a rich ruby red with a small cream head. Plum, plums and yet more plums in the aroma. Has a creamy texture in the mouth, with flavour being predominantly plums, but also dark fruits and cherries. Roast malts at the start but then sugary sweetness comes through. Finish is dry and fluctuates between sweet and bitter. I used to really like this but not so keen on it now (too much fruit).

Cask at Sun, Stafford. Pours a lemon yellow with a small white head, good lacing and low carbonation. Not much of a nose – just vaguely lemon. In the mouth it has a watery texture with taste being mainly lemon with some summer fruits. Fniish is dry and has an underlying aura of peanut butter. Bland – apart from the horrid finish.

Cask at Sun, Stafford. Pours a golden brown with a small foamy white head and good lacing. Not much of a nose, just some vague sweet malts in the aroma. In the mouth the texture is creamy with a strong flavour of tea leaves / tannins, on a base of sweet malts. Also some hints of chestnuts and digestive biscuits. Finish is pretty awful – slight hint of vomit. This beer is swiggable. In fact it’s probably best if you DO swig it – you won’t notice the taste so much !

Bottle from DanTomlinson, many thanks. Ruby red color with thick pinkish head. Clear plums in aroma, dark malt, chocolate. Taste, swet sugary, plum compote, light dark malt. Not too much porter, or more precisly beer in this. As drink quite good.

330ml can: BB 30th Jun 2021. Drank at home on 10th Jan 2021. Very lively pour, huge billowing white head, clean and clear golden body on the first pour, hazy on the other two (told you it was lively). Bitter citrus nose and taste, grapefruit being the main player aroma and flavour wise; too much grapefruit for me to be honest!

Cask in a bottle delivered from the Blue Boar and drunk at home. Purplish brown and translucent with no head. Odd aroma: plum, yes, with other notes of earth, and maybe a little bit of sick. Hmmm. Taste brings up no such mixed emotions. Sweet and sumptuous lime homemade plum wine. The finish is bitter and maybe that little bit astringent. Full oily body, no discernible carbonation. I'd say this is a bit more of a mixed bag than its sessioable predecessor but enjoyable all the same.

Wetherspoon Autumn Beer Festival 2019. Cask @ Richard Oastler, Brighouse. Deeper golden with a creamy head and a fuller-bodied hop-malt fusion. There’s not much flavour but is a decent stronger cask ale.

Near black with a beige head, and a big vanilla aroma. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, and there is again plenty of vanilla going on in the taste, alongside a hint of the promised chocolate, and nicely roasted malt, the finish is on the dry bitter side with prevailing vanilla
