23rd Feb 2018, half-pint, cask; in The Bear, Hodent, Shropshire. Clear golden pour, white lasting head. Nice easy drinking blend with a good balance between hop and malts, hop front and aroma, slight citrus leanings which give way to a semi-sweet, dry malty finish.

Cask at the dockyard. Nose is sweet plum, fruit tea, orange, carrot. Palate is chocolate, plum, orange. The plum really gets through, pretty good.

Cask-conditioned at the Hop Bunker, Cardiff 8/2/2018. Dark brown, with a moderately-sized, off-white, head. Black cherry character dominated upfront, with a hint of coconut, followed by some toasty malts and touch of chocolate, with the cherries returning in the finish. Fine.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 25 Nov 2017) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with plums, caramel and raisins. Malty, fruity taste with notes of plums, caramel, raisins, chocolate and a bitter-sweet finish with a light plum tartness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, with a rich plum character. Very nice.

Bottle from Two Brews, Colchester. Pours mahogany brown with a small beige head. Aroma of cappuccino, vanilla, with moderate roasting. Medium plus sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Pretty good.

Keg at the Sir Robert Peel, Leicester. Orangeish brown, very translucent with a cream-coloured head. Light coffee scent, with some ash, chocolate, caramel. Sweet taste, almost too sweet. Some pleasant sourness in the finish, with sarsaparilla, Camp coffee and blackberry in the aftertaste. Thin, thin body. Tasty enough but inconsequential.

330ml bottle from Appleyards, Shrewsbury. Pours clear gold, white head. Sweet malt on the nose, taste is smooth, clean, sweet pale malt, simplistic much like a German kolsch I guess, but it's been a while since I've been in Koln to try the real thing.

ABV: 4.0%. Clear medium to dark red amber colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, toasted, light dark malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, malt bitter, sweet malt, caramel, toasted, light dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20180123]

Cask at the Caley Picture House. Pours clear chestnut brown with a thick cream-coloured head. Aromas of light chocolate and citrus. Taste is bitter, citrus. Bitter finish. Bit too bitter.
