Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 20th November 2025. Almost impenetrably black with brown foam and spot lacing. Rich and intense roastiness in aroma with notes of aniseed. Dark chocolate, coffee and aniseed in-mouth, and a resounding finish of roast malts, spices and bitter chocolate. Velvet smooth mouthfeel and plenty of body.

Moderately sweet, but still quite ashy and dry. Some
Bitter cocoa, scorched earth. Super dry finish. Balance is a little off but not bad.

440ml can. Very lively pour, dirty murky amber with an enormous beige head taking up 95% of the glass, didn't take too long to settle down thankfully. Aroma of very piney hops atop caramel/toffee malt. Taste is again very piney, citrus, grapefruit peel, toffee, caramel, light biscuit, bittersweet but leaning towards more bitter in the finish. Medium bodied. It's no looker but a very tasty American Red; could easily be called a Red IPA.

2nd November 2025
Can. A light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Pale malts are light and fairly smooth and massively oversweet. Soft cooling pine, sweet and slightly ripe citrus. Light finish. Clunky. Very clunky.
