Bierbrouwerij Vermeersen

Microbrewery in Hulst, Zeeland, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Established in 1991

Contact
31965, Absdaalseweg 2, Hulst, 4561 GG, Netherlands
Description
The history of the brewery begins in 1821, when Messrs Wauters, Faseert and Neyt founded the Halve Maan brewery in Hulst. The Hulsterse Brouwers persist in brewing top-fermented beer. Even when all other Dutch breweries brew Pilsener, traditional beer still flows from the kettles in Hulst. In 1968, the brewery in the city center of Hulst was closed and the cellar rights were sold to Paul Vermeersen, who before then was a distributor of Hulster beer.

In 1989, a new brewery was put into use on the Absdaalseweg. From 2010, the old brewery installation was thoroughly modernized. In 2016, the name “Beer Brewery Vermeersen” was adopted. The brewery is currently focusing on brewing beautifully balanced beers from, as far as possible, local ingredients for the Zeeland Market.

Clear deep golden colour, small frothy white head, disappears after a short while, reduces to a thin layer with yeast islets. Shy aroma, yeast, honey, light citrus. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, yeast, white grapes, candy sugar, alcohol notes. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, thin sweetbitter aftertaste, bit cardboard, wry bitterish spiciness lingers on, very disappointing.

Rating overgezet. Fles gedeeld door Inoven. Het is een troebel goudgeel bier met een dun wit schuim. Het aroma is moutig en fruitig. De smaak is zoet en fruitig en wat bitter in de afdronk.

Bottle shared at tasting. Nice dark red to dark pink red color, average sized pink head. Smell and taste lightly malts, aroma also strongly has concentrated dark cherries, also a bit artificial imo, flavor doesn't have that artificial stuff that much. Ok, but there are much better examples imo. --- Beer merged from original tick of Halve Maan Java Kriek on 15 Jun 2011 at 04:12 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 2 | Flavor - 2 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 4. Original review text: The dark red color is the only thing a like about this beer. It’s way too sour but the worst thing is that it tastes chemical. Like they didn’t use real cherries.

Drinkt lekker weg.
