Bottle @ home shared by Joeren86. Unclear golden color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, wheat, a bit sweet, a light touch of corn somehow. Decent body and carbonation. Ok tripel I guess but it's just not my thing I guess.

Fles geprobeerd bij De Pannekoeken Molen te Burgh-Haamstede. Fles nummer 000222. Het is een licht troebel oranje bier met veel schuim dat snel weg trekt. De geur is bloemig en wat hoppig. De smaak is bloemig, licht zoet en wat hoppig in de nasmaak.

Fles geprobeerd in Burg Haamstede. Het is een troebel oranje geel bier met een dun laagje wit schuim. Het heeft een moutige licht fruitige en wat gistachtige geur. De smaak is moutig, zacht fruitig en wat zoet.

Fles gedeelt met LiekevdV. Het is een diep donkerbruin helder bier met weinig schuim. Het aoma is caramel achtig en fruitig. De smaak is zoet, caramelachtig en fruitig, pruimen achtig.

Fles gekregen van Inoven. Het is een amberkleurig bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een fruitige geur met hints van pruimen. De smaak is gebrand mout, koffie en wat bitter.

Flesje thuis gedeeld. Goudgeel troebel bier. Aroma is fruitig. Smaak is zoet en fruitig. Nasmaak is iets bitter.

Bottle from the Albert Heijn located next to the brewery in Hulst - a fresh bottle, so why this is listed as 'retired' here, I have no idea... A tripel with wheat honoring the local wildlife – Hulst is situated in a very rural region – in this case the partridge, which indeed can be spotted regularly in the surrounding area. Thick and moussy, eggshell-white, irregularly but tightly lacing, stable head over a hazy peach-hued golden blonde beer with numerous strings of fierce sparkling rising up from the bottom, sustaining the pillowy head. Aroma of canned peaches, ripe melon, banana, sweetbread, coriander seed, apple, soap, dried dandelion, camomile flowers, white bread, dried orange peel and a whiff of overcooked white cabbage (DMS) which initially remains subtle, but gets stronger and ‘stinkier’ with sediment. Fruity onset, some banana ester surrounded by peach and pear notes, sweetish with a light sourish edge, medium carbonation, full, smooth, fluffy and slightly soapy mouthfeel. Bready and lightly caramelly malt sweet body with some wheat ‘soapiness’ at the sides and honeyish residual sugar sweetness on top, lingering beyond a mellow coriander spiciness, floral hop bitterishness and bready, eventually earthy yeastiness in the finish, where the alcohol remains well hidden. Typical sweet ‘tarwetripel’ or tripel ‘tout court’, too bad for that DMS but otherwise decent enough.

Tea-flavored and Sorachi Ace-hopped tripel by Vermeersen, the former Halve Maan; swingtop bottle from the Gall & Gall in Hulst, located a few hundred yards from the brewery. Intricately and tightly 'Brugse kant'-lacing, yellowish eggshell-coloured, densely moussy, closed head over a clear, deep and warm, copper-tinged pure amber beer, misty and a bit 'rosy' with sediment. Aroma of banana milkshake, peanuts, powder sugar, glazed apple, red rooibos tea indeed but (sugared) rosehip tea as well, persimmon, fresh pineapple, curcuma, orange zest, ripe peach, biscuit, rosewater, egg yolk, cherry tomatoes, parsley which may be the Sorachi Ace - though the latter's typical dill-like features are a bit lost in the whole. Sweetish onset, banana ester, hints of freshly cut red apple, peach and pineapple, sourish undertone reinforced by spritzy, bit minerally carb; full, slick, somewhat resinous mouthfeel with a thin metallic edge to it, but feeling natural, possibly established by the added tea. Peanutty, caramelly maltiness, sweetish with bittering toasty edges, the bitterness in the end taken over by a firm dosis of rooty, leafy, spicy, eventually tonic water-like hoppiness; retronasal dried orange peel and subtle herbal notes, but I would not have identified it as Sorachi Ace if I hadn't known it was in here. The tea adds this kind of rosehip-like 'metallicness' and a soft herbal aroma which matches well with the hops. Ends bitter with lingering malt and residual sugary sweetness underneath, the bitterness highlighted by an afterglow of 'oude jenever'-like, eventually somewhat astringent and tiring alcohol. I am not a great fan of tea in general (even if rooibos is botanically speaking not even true tea) but admittedly its addition here has an embellishing effect on what is otherwise a classic sweet Belgian style 'edelbier', updated with a modern hop variety - but in a somewhat too subtle way. Sorachi Ace could do beautiful things to a beer like this if it had been applied a bit more generously and with more emphasis on aroma, but then its delicate structure is still detectable here so you won't hear me complain. Not a bad effort at all, quite delicate, aromatic and refreshing in spite of its hefty, boozy basic character.
