Deep dark color. Orange and liquorice in the aroma. Bit of tartness in the flavor. Orange, coreander, liquorice, caramel, coffee. Sweetish and a bit sticky. Nice, complex beer. Until 1961 in this brewery a lambic was made. Mixed with a topfermenting beer it was sold as a Dubbele Java. This beer was reintroduced in the mid-nineties, but it can’t be the same beer. Years ago I read an interview with the former brewer. He still had some bottles of the old lambic left and mixed it with a Belgian beer to get a beer resembling the former Dobbel Java. Swing top bottle, tasted in august 2015, sold as De Halve Maan XX Dubbel. Brown color, lumps of yeast. caramel in the soft spicy aroma. caramelly sweet flavor with licorice, pear drups and coreander. Orange peel. Decent.

Herbal aroma. Full boedied. Sweetish, herbal taste with raisin, pineapple and some licorice. Tasty, but unbalanced.

25 cl bottle, probably brewed in belgium, judging by the label (Bockor?, Verhaeghe?). Blonde. Flowery, somewhat fruity aroma. Creamy, flowery flavor, fairly low on hopbitterness, except for a hopflash in the aftertaste. Typical Belgian type pilsener.

Bottle. pale blonde, hazy. Aroma has citrus and just a bit of flowery hops. Slightly perfumed flavor with lemon and some flowery hops. Alcoholic and a bit thin. Pleasant fruity tripel.

Bottle. Pale blonde, cloudy. Yoghurt and coreander in the aroma. Dryish, slightly spiced grainy flavor with some vague citrus notes. Not really impressive.

Bottle. dark brown color. Rye bread and apple syrup in the aroma. Rye bread in the flavor. Some raisin and tartness. Sweetish with a slight alcohol kick. Pleasant but a bit sticky.

Bottle. Ruby red color, purple head. Cherry and marzipan in the aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with cherry juice. Marzipan finish. Good food pairing with cherry desserts. Roze zoete brol indeed, but it smells nice.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is een troebel bruin bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige wat kruidige geur. De smaak is licht gebrande mout, caramel en kruidig.

Flesje gekregen van Inoven, thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is is een oranje bruinig bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een fruitige geur. De smaak is caramel achtig en fruitig met een licht bittere afdronk.
