Description
Owned by "Brauerei zur Malzmühle" since 01/2022.

The origin of the brewery and distillery Gebr. Sünner was located in Cologne-Deutz. Today it is the oldest Kölsch brewery in the world and has been owned by the Sünner family since 1830. The origins go back to a small house brewery called "Zum Schiffgen" with a distillery and taproom. In 1846 the brewery moved to the current premises in Cologne-Kalk. With Astrid Schmitz-DuMont, the sixth generation of the Sünner family has taken over the management of the brewery and continues the tradition of the family-owned brewery and distillery.

50cl bottle. Poured golden color with a thick white head, nice lacing, looking good. Aroma is mostly grainy malt. Flavor is bread and grain malt, some apple/fruity notes. Crisp, quite dry. Slightly bitter finish. Decent kölsch, would love to drink this draught in Köln somewhere

Gravity, in their old brauhaus in the aldstadt, Cologne. Darker gold than usual, with a bubbly head. Malty, slightly fruity aroma. Rather malty flavor with quite a bit of fruit and a nice, peppery finish. Cereals, sweet malts, not a lot of hop flavor, but ok bitterness and balance. Decent, though not so special.

Bottled 0,5 l (BZ, BB 12/2010)
Hazy orange color, mostly vanishing white head. Sticky grainy aroma with notes of like cut grass. Fizzy carbonation. Sweet malty, grainy, some citrus, lemonade-like. Finish has some hoppy bitterness. Kind of refreshing, but has some faults like the most of bio-lagers.

500ml bottle. Thin, filtered looking orange-yellow. Respectable white head. Some brewery aroma, with a touch of lemon. Relatively straightforward stuff, light to medium bodied. Doughy mouthfeel, balanced out by a light hoppy spiciness. Bready, with a little bit of graininess inthe finish. Pleasant session beer, hyper-quaffable.

Bottle. It pours a sparkling, clear body, a bit pale golden, and topped by a big, dense, creamy white head. Weak, grainy nose with a fruity touch. Grainy and fruity flavor, pleasantly hopped, but quite uninteresting anyway. Medium body, dry. A decent one, nothing more. Guess it slakes the thirst quite well though. 100327
