Description
Owned by "Brauerei zur Malzmühle" since 01/2022.

The origin of the brewery and distillery Gebr. Sünner was located in Cologne-Deutz. Today it is the oldest Kölsch brewery in the world and has been owned by the Sünner family since 1830. The origins go back to a small house brewery called "Zum Schiffgen" with a distillery and taproom. In 1846 the brewery moved to the current premises in Cologne-Kalk. With Astrid Schmitz-DuMont, the sixth generation of the Sünner family has taken over the management of the brewery and continues the tradition of the family-owned brewery and distillery.

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Hazy yellowish golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready malts, some parfume, mild notes of fruits as well as earth and herbs. Flavour is grassyness, some bready malts, mild fruits and some herbal notes. Quite bittery and very non-sweet beer (even though the fruityness). BIO-marked, but actually still quite pleasant. Semidry finish.

Bottle from Ledger’s Liquor. Pours pale gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Aroma of citrus with a little grass. Near medium body with rather creamy carbonation. Flavor is a mix of citrus and grass over pale malt. It’s very tasty for a kolsch. Not lacking in flavor. Matches a good pils, but with more breadiness and citrus.
