Draft at Roofers Union, 11/20/16. Dark brown pour, creamy light brown head. Roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, citrus, and earth. Malt-foward, roasty, with a solid hop presence too. Medium body, average carbonation.

Total Wine Fairfax can: pours light amber with a white head. Aroma is light caramel. Taste is slightly hopped with low bitterness. Light sweetness. Easy to drink. Meh.

Growler from the brewery pours an opaque black with some creamy, off white head. Nose is what you expect, toast, molasses, malt, grain, chocolate, some cola. Flavor follows, cola, mild pepper, toast, molasses, grains. Dry finish. Well done.

16oz pour at Right Proper pours a murky, translucent brown with zero head. Nose has lots of molasses and brown sugar, plenty of promised pumpernickel too, chocolate, toast, hints of pepper and bread crust. Flavor has lots of chocolate and molasses, some caramel and brown sugar, some spice and herbal notes. Sweet finish.

On tap at the brewery, pours a clear gold with some fluffy, white head. Nose is nice, honey, straw, stale biscuit, grass, lemon, mild perfume, some light medicine cabinet. Flavor follows, mild grist, light honey, light cough drop, some lemon, straw, grass, a little medicine cabinet again. Dry finish. Crazy drinkable. Very nicely done.

Sampled at the brewery, pours a dark cherry amber with just some faint white head. Nose is interesting, lots of dried cherry, raisin, some cranberry, red grapes, some neutral oak. Flavor has dried cherry, raisin, some cranberry, cheap red wine, a little wood pulp, a bit earthy too. Finishes full bodied, lightly tannic but dry.

Sampled at the brewery, pours a mostly clear gold with some lacing, white head. Nose is solid, grassy, some citrus, flowers, a little tropical fruit, some fresh cream. Flavor has perfume, chrysanthemum, tangerine, meyer lemon, grass, straw, fresh cream. Dry and lightly bitter on the finish. Very drinkable.

At the brewery, pours a dark translucent amber with some sticky, foamy off white head. Soapy nose, pine, grist, some tea, heavy citrus peel. Flavor is huge with orange rind, grapefruit rind, heavy pine, caramel, chewy grain. Full bodied, chewy, sticky finish.

14oz draft pour at Lost Dog - Alexandria. Poured a very slightly hazy yellow color with a one finger white head. Aroma was light citrus, some mild tropical fruit notes. Flavor was light floral character, citrus, pine. Not a whole lot of wheat character here.

Can from the ’Craft Beer Corner’ at Fedex Field, Maryland. Pleasant rye beer, with earthy and spicy malts, berry fruits, leafy hops and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.
