Description
In 1449, Urbar von Wallsee first mentioned a brewery in Hofstetten. This is the oldest record we have of a brewery at this location, and it is a date that has granted us a place in the Guinness Book of Records as the Oldest Brewery in Austria. The tavern/brewery has been in the hands of the Krammer Family since 1847. Now in our fifth generation, we still proudly combine hops and malt daily to make the beautiful product of beer.

From bottle at CBF Wien.
Brownish-copper body, with a small, beige head.
Aroma of bourbon, nuts, dark chocolate, barrel, dried fruits, some caramel.
Taste follows this, with quite a lot of booze.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes boozy, with bourbon, barrel, cocoa, some fruits.
Very nice. Lovely nose, full of bourbon barrel and smooth dark malts. Taste is also nice, but a bit too boozy. Overall a great, warming sipper.

$4.70 pint+ bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours orange with almost no head to speak of. Aroma is grass, leaves, light fruit, earth. Flavor is green and grown leaves, grasses, cheap lager, grains. This is a top 50 Oktoberfest? Meh.

Draught at Gourmet Haus. Malt dominated but lacking well rounded, rich aspects. A little husky. Slightly hazed copper.

330 ml bottle from BeerLovers, bb end of 2017.
Dark golden to amber, moderate hazy body, with a small, fluffy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of honey, dried fruits, flowers, sweet bread, some grains.
Taste follows this pretty much.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes medium hoppy, medium sweet, a bit dry, floral, a bit grainy, subtly piney.
Good, but not that special. Quite simple, while with a solid balance and a well hidden ABV. More on the sweet side, but also with a good amount of hops. Slightly above average Bock, but there are better ones from Hofstetten.
