Brown 33cl dumpy bottle, best before 23 Apr 2012, been in my stash for some time: opened and reviewed Sunday 22 May 2011. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru glass: the sediment seemed to stay in the bottle, so my glass was full of a dark reddy brown beer which had a very slight haziness to it. On top a well formed and deep off-white head of tight bubbles. Malty molasses fill the nose, treacle and toffee notes complete the smells I found. Roasted/toasted malty bread taste, with an alcohol undertone. Sweet and tangy, but lacking something when comparing with the better beers within this style. I thought the beer a bit lively and over carbonated, the alcohol was too prominent also, the body not possessing enough strength or complexity to control it. My wife liked this beer more than I did, the malty sweetness winning her over, compared to my more measured overview which pushed it towards more average scores for the style.

Hazy blond colour with massive soapy head and a bud of hop! Aroma has a mild, fresh hop edge. Clean, refreshing taste some green grassy notes and citrusy hop leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Fruity, yeasty, phenollic aroma - very Belgian. Solid body, rich on fruit and yeast but appears fairly clean, meaning no real traces of spice. Gets fairly boozy in the finish. 030412
