Bottle from Tanakaya. Fruity, chocolate cookie aroma, cinammon, brown sugar. Dark orange-brown with a tall, fine, fluffy head. Sweet and malty, with dried fruits, chocolate, cookies, rich, savory malt, pears, and something like rum or jenever too. Alcohol bites a bit. Also a bit of a ornge-chocolate tang and some bitter hops in the finish. Reasonably complex and well balanced.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Aroma of green apples, honey, dust, grass. Deep bronze-orange, cloudy and full of gunk, and a medium, fine, merangue head. Flavor is interstingly complex, sour edge, bitter edge, herbal, barnyard. Interesting. Almost a bit smokey as well: lichen or something? Musky, yeasty, pepper, coriander. Quite nice biterness in the finish. A bit weird, but I am enjoying that.

Bottle at Kerstbier Festival, Essen, Belgique, 19.12.10 There is loads of liquorice on the nose from the off, some booziness shows, spicy throughout but too much liquorice and spice for me. Its amber in colour touch of haze. Ok. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a mid-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty and lemon-fruity aroma with bready malty notes, as well as ginger and herbal spice. Moderately sweet and bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Bready malty and slightly grainy taste with spicy and subtle fruity notes; slightly sweet malty and bitter hoppy finish with a well-integrated and warming alcoholic note. 27.XI.10

Bottle, Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, 01.10.10 consumed 12.11.10 Pours light brown/orange with white bubbly head. Soft in the mouth lightly spicy good bit of overipe banana. Btw the hop cone zoomed out of the bottle on pour (it was quite lively) Nice hoppiness with a good bittersweet finish. Likeable, I’ve ramped my score up as I’ve been drinking this, as it was better than expected. A7 A3 T67 P3 Ov14 3.4

Served on draft at Mekong in Richmond, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of berries, apples, some maple notes and a bit of paint thinner. The taste is green apples, berries, maple, green bananas, brown sugar and a bit of a chemical note. Medium bodied. Weird, odd and disjointed.

Malty aroma, honey, fruity, some citrus. Orange-red color with a low head. Fruity, malty flavor with honey and light, grassy hops. Thick and rich. Nice, though not enough hops and a bit too one-dimensional.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours orange gold with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is like kandi and cooked fruit. Med. body w/coarse, frothy carbonation. Flavor is yeast/spice/peppery, bready, hint of kandi and balanced with herb bitter hop. Beats many ales.
