Served on draft at Mekong in Richmond, VA. Pours a clear copper color with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of berries, apples, some maple notes and a bit of paint thinner. The taste is green apples, berries, maple, green bananas, brown sugar and a bit of a chemical note. Medium bodied. Weird, odd and disjointed.

Malty aroma, honey, fruity, some citrus. Orange-red color with a low head. Fruity, malty flavor with honey and light, grassy hops. Thick and rich. Nice, though not enough hops and a bit too one-dimensional.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours orange gold with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is like kandi and cooked fruit. Med. body w/coarse, frothy carbonation. Flavor is yeast/spice/peppery, bready, hint of kandi and balanced with herb bitter hop. Beats many ales.

Second rate: Explodes from the bottle. End result is a massive amount of silty gunk in the glass. So I get to drink about half of what I paid for. Lots of dried fruit in the aroma like raisins and plum jam. Some smokey elements too. High carbonation. Slightly numbing on the tongue from the spice. Flavour has sweet dried fruits, smoke, varnish and alcohol. 4-1-5-3-7__14th Jan 2012. First rate: Deep brown colour. No head. Warming aroma. Spiciness and warming alcohol in the flavour. Good balance of flavour. Clean and smooth taste. 7-3-7-3-14__2nd Aug 2010.

Gusher. Medium coarseish white head. Yellow body totally dominated by thousands of floaties. Dense spicy honey aroma with papery grassy notes. Dry-sweetish spicy milky honey taste with papery notes. Light body. Faintly hot mouthfeel, and floaties just barely noticeable. Dry spicy herbal grassy aftertaste with honey notes. Really quite nice. With just a bit more flavour and depth it could be great. (0.33l bottle, de Biertempel, Brugge.)
