1/III/14 - 33cl bottle from Café 't Hoekske (Geluveld) @ home - BB: n/a (forgot to write it down?) (2014-233) Thanks to Cis for doing my shopping! :-)

Little cloudy dark orange beer, lots of small sediment floating around in the glass under a huge creamy off-white head, very stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: some vegetable sourp, sweet and sugary, almonds, caramel, banana, fruity esters. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter start, bit chemical, sweet and sugary, malty caramel flavours, bit fruity. Aftertaste: very bitter, bit grassy, almonds, medicinal bitterness, very dry and bitter ending. It's very hoppy, that's good. But could use some more balance, maybe some more aroma hop instead of bitter hops.

Heavy Woods, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours light amber with a white head. Mild amount of caramel malt, and some floral hops. Taste is similar. Lightly bitter. A wee bit sweet, but mostly forgettable.

Bottle @ Too many Geuze’s - only one toilet , Ulfborg 2012. Golden amber color, small white head. Sweet malty aroma with lots of spices. Tastes quite spicy, sweet malts , caramel, and a citric hoppy background. Rather dry finish with lots of spices. Not bad, but not my type of beer either.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, bränt socker och toner av nötter. Avrundas med en enkel beska.

Bottle from trade with Cunningham, many thanks. Dark amber color with minimal tan head. Fruity aroma with spicy hops, caramel, vinous notes. Taste starts with overripe fruit, malt, caramel, spicy hops, vinous hints. Hoppy, bitter finish. Decent beer.

Draft. Clear brownish amber color, thick brown head with good retention. Aroma of burnt toast. Taste is dilute burnt nuts and an odd combination of spices.

Bottle. Light toffee and hay/grass aroma. Dark amber with large tan head. Mildly sweet caramel malt and light grass hops flavor. Decent body. Actually not bad - both for an amber ale as well as one of the better Abita offerings.

12 ounce bottle. 2012 vintage. Pours a dark amber brown color. Large bubbly beige head. Earthy, toasted malt aroma with hints of brown sugar and cardamom. Upfront, flavors of burnt caramel and toasted nuts. Midtaste is dry with some spicy hops. Finishes bitter and dry. Overall, a bit perplexing and different. Could have used more malty sweetness.

Bottle. Piney/spicy hops and caramel malt aroma. Chestnut with a moderate tan head. Pine/spicy hops, some caramel malt, and a weird metallic finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Clear medium to dark amber colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, sewer, wood, spicy. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111208]

ABV: 5.5%. Clear medium brown amber colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, wood, light roasted, light to moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, caramel, dark hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light metalic. [20120128]
