Description
Opening its production and tap room doors in October of 2011, NoDa Brewing Company has since become one of the Charlotte area’s winningest breweries – with silver and gold medals from the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.
With a collective passion for home brewing and exemplary craft beer, Suzie Ford (President & Co-Founder), Todd Ford (Vice President & Co-Founder), and Chad Henderson (Head Brewer & Co-Owner) teamed up to create a craft brewing identity that would connect to and grow alongside their beloved city of Charlotte. Since opening in the spring of 2011, NoDa Brewing Company received a warm welcome and has since expanded to three locations (The OG, NorthEnd, and the CLT airport) and continues to be one of the crown jewels of the Queen City.

Pretty good for a flavored Porter, especially in that the flavors are muted and the essential Porter character dominates.

On tap at Duckworth’s Uptown, dark black, brown edges with creamy off white head. Nose has chocolate, marzipan, some coffee, a little cold smoke. Flavor is oddly smokey, almost bacony, dry toast, some soy, a little fish sauce/plum sauce maybe. Odd. Dry finish.

16oz can from Salud, pours a clear orange with some head that faded quickly. Nose has plenty of orange and soap, honey comb, a little tangerine, mild perfume. Flavor is sticky with honey and orange and grapefruit, a little lemon-lime soda, mild paper, some chewed bubblegum. Finishes full bodied and a little sticky. Reminds me of Hopslam when Hopslam was good.

On tap at A Taste of Carolina at CLT. Clear medium amber with a two finger off white head that fades slowly and leaves some patchy lace. Nose has lots of pine and citrus. Light sweet malt with a medium+ bitterness. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation. Decent. 8/3+/7+/4-/15

Pour is a black with a huge tan head. Aroma is a really nice roasted malt with a intense dark chocolate. Flavor is more chocolate and a thick and chewy mouthfeel. More chocolate is left on the tongue as this goes down. I did not get any coconut which was dissapointing. But even with no coconut showing up this is a fine chocolate flavored porter.
