Description
Opening its production and tap room doors in October of 2011, NoDa Brewing Company has since become one of the Charlotte area’s winningest breweries – with silver and gold medals from the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.
With a collective passion for home brewing and exemplary craft beer, Suzie Ford (President & Co-Founder), Todd Ford (Vice President & Co-Founder), and Chad Henderson (Head Brewer & Co-Owner) teamed up to create a craft brewing identity that would connect to and grow alongside their beloved city of Charlotte. Since opening in the spring of 2011, NoDa Brewing Company received a warm welcome and has since expanded to three locations (The OG, NorthEnd, and the CLT airport) and continues to be one of the crown jewels of the Queen City.

Draft at the source. Clear amber color, thick bright white head, solid lacing. Aroma of flowers > grass > fruit. Taste is moderately bitter grass and fruit. Nice.

Draft at the source. Clear golden color, small white edge head. Aroma of mint! Taste is similar, very light and refreshing on a hot day. Not my favorite style, imitations of non-beer drinks, but this is tasty enough for what it is.

I don’t know how, but I have notes on this from a self-labeled bottle at Dark Lord Day 2011, before the place even opened. I suspect someone from NoDa was there and brought this for market research. Either way, I’m not slamming it, so count it as a tick. Brownish color in my tiny glass. Actually some spicy rye in the nose. Pretty good smell and color. Really comes a cross as a rye beer without a lot of hops or other stuff.

Pours red-tinged gold into a snifter. Pale head quickly recedes to hug rim. Stale and sweet with pit fruit and a lasting stale hop finish.

Draft. Maroon color, tan head. Aroma of dark cocoa and cocoanut. Flavor is like eating a Mounds Bar! Definitely unique and interesting, and the combination works very well in this beer.

Draft at Charlotte Octoberfest. Hazy golden color, medium white head, decent lacing. Aroma of lemonpeel, pineapple and flowers. Taste has lots of citrus and summer fruits. Good balance. Gotta love those citra hops! Very solid IPA from a brand new microbrewery.
