Description
Taybeh Brewing Company is a family owned business established in 1994 following the Oslo Peace Agreement (1993) when David Khoury and Nadim Khoury were inspired by their late father, Canaan David Khoury (1926-2002) to return to their home village of Taybeh after spending more than twenty years in the United States and establish the first micro brewery in the Middle East.
The goal was to invest and boost the local economy by introducing new styles of natural hand crafted micro-brewed beers according to the German Purity Law with no preservatives or additives making an excellent Palestinian beer while creating a nationalistic feeling. Nadim Khoury turned his hobby of making homemade beer during college days into a career becoming the master brewer. He is very proud to pass this passion and experience to his daughter, Madees Khoury, the only female brewer in Palestine.

Nov. 2008: 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ’Palestinian’ beer brewed and bottled in Belgium, licence held in Germany (Haus der 131 Biere). ABV is 5.2%. Crystal clear very pale yellow colour, big white head. Sweetish industrial pale lager aroma, grassy and fruity notes. The flavour is moderately fruity and slightly sweet with minimal hops, boring but not undrinkable.

21st June 2023, new region and rare beer tasting with minutemat at my place. 25th Anniversary label: BB6th September 2023. A present from my brother who visited Israel recently. Pale golden pour, hazy with a decent white head. Usual wheat esters with a yeasty, spiced orange undertone to the nose. Taste also follows the traditional Belgian Whites, just a little more subtle in strength.

Aroma of sweet malt, some hops, grassy. Taste has unique grain bill, typical malt but with a twist - perhaps an unconventional grain? Palate has lingering grainy notes, grassy and floral hops, pleasant nasal note. Quite good.

Bottle at the brewery during Taybeh Oktoberfest 2022. Cloudy golden-orange. Some funk, vinous note, vegetal chili, a bit sweetish, quickly turns to very hot chili. Very hard to drink.
