Squealer in Denver with Aussie pals. Hazy yellow appearance with a pearl white head. This is straight up sour watermelon. It’s not overly complex but damn, it is refreshing and tasty. Moderately tart. Wish it was a little higher boost.

Bottle at Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured almost black with a round bubbly off white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light coffee, dark chocolate. The flavour is liqourice bitter with a smooth, rich, oily liquorice malt, alcoholic, floral hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Full to medium bodied with flat carbonation. Lovely aroma but the liquorice and alcohol were present well into the finish and the lingering bitterness was not so great.

Tap at the Royston Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is roasty malt, grassy hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a crisp, dry roast, grassy, liqourice hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A good black IPA but a little lacking on the citrus hop side for my liking.
