500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours very deep brown with tiny beige head that doesn’t hang around. Nose is coffee, chocolate and vanilla with notes of oak, caramel and dark fruit. Very sweet malty front with soya and vanilla in the middle and a dryer than expected finish without being overly bitter. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

500ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clear deep amber with small off white head that quickly fades. Nose is caramel and roasted malts with floral hops . Sweet toffee, vanilla and some banana with a light citrus bitterness in the finish. Slightly watery slick mouth with soft carbonation. Hops never really come through in the taste.

This one poured a medium amber colour with a quick living head. To the nose there are scents of beets, potatoes, alcohol and herb hops. First taste was smooth and almost uncarbonated. Flavours of lite smoke, mild hops and a little spice. Finish is a little bitter with hay flavor lingering...

Pours a golden colour, barely cloudy, with a big white head that is just slightly off-white. Carbonation is pretty elevated, keeping the head up, seems forever. Lots of stickiness to the glass. Aromas are sweet with the ginger, so not on the spicy side. The taste is on the sour side, so not sure if infected. Mild grain appears with some light ginger. Even some bad vegetable notes. The head gets creamier near the last pour and the brew, cloudier. Wish the ginger was spicier, more real. Not a fan of this one. Had better ginger beers recently, as this seems to be this summer’s faze.

Hmmm, not quite what the doctor ordered. Smell starts off nice with promising cherry notes. Finish is crisp and rather plain. Once in mouth there’s little aroma here. Average carbonation. Tap at volos.

Actually pretty tolerable for a ginger. Pours orange clear with ok head and lacing. Aroma of light, well-integrated ginger and malt. Like a proper Jamaican ginger beer with booze. Finishes with tasty ginger. Average carbonation. Tap at the Rhino summer fest.
