A blonde pils with a thin white head. In aroma, nice raspberry pulp with light acidic points, and light mineral notes. In mouth, a smooth biscuit malt with cork notes, raspberry pulp, a bit astringent. On tap at Wellington Gastropub, July 26, 2012.

Pours a clean copper colour with a frothy light-beige head, great retention and thick foamy lacing. Mostly smells like a irish red ale (caramel, hop) with hints of grapefruits in the background. Also in the back, some apples, burnt wood and nuts. The hops comes out more in the taste with a nice mild bitterness and dryness in the finish. Still, lots going on in the far end. Quite interesting actually. Very nice rendition of the classic style.

Smells like blackberry with a little malt. Pours a cloudy white wheat colour. Soft carbonation, a nice feel on the palate. Taste has wheat, yeast and more fruit. A touch of sourness and some malt. Good. On tap at The Rhino.

Smells a little malty, some sourness that persists through the taste in a kind of unpleasant manner consistent with many others I’ve had of the style. Gains a wonderful dose of astringency at the end of the journey, which lasts all of a few seconds. Pours dark gold, high carbonation but head dies quick. A pretty weak beer for the brewery. Bottle at Saving Gigi’s.

A hazed brown ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, a sweet caramel malt with doughy notes, grass, alcohol and solvent. In mouth, sweet nutty malt, roasty, grassy hops, a bit of burned notes. On tap at C’est What’s Festival of Small Brewers, June 23, 2012.

Smells like caramel, honey or even maple. Pours dark with a little lacing. Theres some barley here and a taste of bitterness. The beer doesnt have that much depth, but its good for the style - Grand River doesnt usually disappoint on that end. That said, I wont be rushing back to drink this. Tap at volos

Smell of hops. Strong hops and sharp bitter barley taste. Pours amber with a decently lasting head and little tracing. I’d like to try this again a little fresher - it would probably be a stronger brew. There’s a hint of caramel in there and a little woodiness, too. Bottle.

(500mL from the LCBO) Poured cool, a deep brown amber with a 2cm fine cream head that left lots of lacing. Aroma is malty, honey and caramel with earthy, faintly pine hops. Flavour fairly sweet initially, bready, grainy and complex malts but promptly balanced by hop bitterness, but not a lot of flavour to go with. Finishes quite bitter. Slick, oily and mouth-filling, a very malt-driven IPA.

strong smell of honey and a taste that follows through with more of that. a taste of hops in here. a really decent lager - if lagers always tasted like this id drink a whole lot more of them, even when they werent cheap. half litre bottle
