Description
The Lumberbeard Brewing story isn’t a complicated one. It is much like the way we like our beers: simple, straightforward, yet full of creative adventure.

Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.

Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

Can picked up at Brewer’s Haven, Dec 2021. Dark brown pour with a small ring of brown head. Nose is heavy roast, coffee, and ash. Bittersweet taste with more roast, coffee, and cocoa. Better as it warmed to room temp.

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Hazy, pale yellow pour, half finger foamy white head. Aroma is oranges with light floral and grassy notes. Taste brings a dank edge to the citrus. Dry finish. West Coast? Hmmm....

16oz can from Hops & Bottles. Pale golden body, gentle pour still yields a high, fluffy head, streaky lacing. Aroma doesn't give away much, light grainy, biscuit Malts. Taste, however, comes in full and strong, sweet, grassy malts and a kiss of hops. Body is full, creamy. Really well done.

On tap at Trail Bend. Pours a clear light gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a lot of straw and light biscuit with a hint of hay and grass backing. Flavor has a strong straw note with a bit of grass and a touch of earthy melon underlying.

On tap at Aslan Depot, pours a hazy blonde with a small white heat. Aroma brings out a vibrant piney hop character, some nice bright stone fruitiness, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and clean, with piney hops, crisp biscuity malt, and just enough tropical stone fruitiness. Clean, vibrant and crisp, with excellent hoppy freshness. Excellent.

16 oz can poured. First try in this series, sadly. Picked up at Hop and Hound. A somewhat cloudy golden appearance. Thin foam head. Really nice, juicy melon hop profile. Melon and grassy combo, with melon headlining. Very cool finish. Almost minty. Lighter feel, but full of hop flavor. Very nice IPA.
