Description
The Lumberbeard Brewing story isn’t a complicated one. It is much like the way we like our beers: simple, straightforward, yet full of creative adventure.

Bret, our president and head brewer, fell in love with beer and the craft of brewing at the appropriate age of 21. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in economics, he pursued a sensible job in the finance world. It didn’t take long for him to realize that being at a desk was not for him and he wanted to become a professional brewer. That passion led him and his family to California where he went back to school to earn a Professional Brewing Certificate at University of San Diego. He swore he would never go back to school, but beer will make you do some crazy things. From there, Bret worked as a professional brewer for several years before taking the leap to open his own brewery in Spokane.

Lumberbeard Brewing was founded in 2018 and we are so excited to have you along for this crazy journey. We are committed to making excellent beers and desire to create a community where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and can find a beer they love!

Pint can. Dull yellow pour with a thick haze and a small white head. Mosaic is one of my favorite hops so.. yeah, I love the rich aroma of citrus, orange, and topicals. Smooth and lightly sweet up front, lingering pithy bitterness to finish. Citrus and light florals, a little grassy, Great finish. Well done.

Tap at Growler Guys. Dark brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty with a little espresso and something sweet. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, tastes roasty with a hard to pinpoint sweetness… molasses maybe? Interesting, but not my style.

16 oz can poured (finally) after picking this up back when the celebration was still young. The party lives on Lumberbeard! Also, I'll see you in person next month! Can't wait. Dense, dark brown appearance, with a patchy foam head. Lots of layered aroma, with toffee, caramel, and oak. Slight coffee like note as well. Flavor is all the same, but not as aggressive as the aroma, or how much I'd expect a beer of this strength to be. Smooth taste, caramel front, soft bran, hints of dark fruit. Lingering dry oak and exceptionally smooth Bourbon. This brew is quite the treat, and certainly one worth celebrating. Excellent! Year 3 has a tough act to follow.

16 oz can picked up during Lager season at Hop and Hound. Aka baseball season. Aroma is a steady straw and apple like grain. Sharp grassy and straw like front, with some cool, low bitter hops to follow. Some cereal grains throughout as well. Flavorful lager compared to many. Refreshing for sure. Solid brew.

I've been avoiding tavour canned stouts for a bit but no regrets here! My first lumberbeard brewing too. Nice vanilla bean stacked bourbon boozy sweetness. Was a bit smokey upfront but after airing out and warming up it's all vanilla bourbon.

Enjoyed on tap at Hop and Hound. A mostly clean, shiny golden appearance, thin patchy head. Crisp, tasty brew here that would pair well with hot weather. Described perfectly by Stevoj. Biscuit, cracker like grains. Soft lemon touch. Crisp and refreshing. Named appropriately. Solid addition to the style.

16 oz. Aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, maple syrup, dark bread. Pours inky black with a one+ finger tan head with excellent retention. Taste is bittersweet with flavors like the aroma. Creamy but slightly thin mouthfeel.
